    hello all
I've just bought a 2005 murcie roadster , and as I live in warm , sunny (not) England, a heated jacket will make the car much more user friendly

for some years now,I have been using this same heated jacket in my brooke 260 rr (do google it for photos), which is like a 1960's formula 1 car, with no doors or windscreen, and the jacket really makes life much more pleasant

the jacket draws 4.2 amperes per jacket, and as it would be rude not to offer my passenger the same degree of comfort, the total current draw would be 8.4 amperes (all at 12 volts )

the murcie owners handbook specifically states that the cigarette lighter point, is not suitable for anything other than the cigarette lighter , and I have already blown the fuse when testing this fact with a small hand-held car vacuum cleaner plugged into the cigarette lighter socket

the car does have what looks like a I pad charging plug under the flap of the centre console, but it looks very weedy, and I really question if it is man enough to supply a 8.4 ampere output at 12 volts

    my questions therefore are :

    1) am I likely to cause any damage to my car by drawing an additional 8.4 amperes ?
I would only turn on the jackets once the car had been started up
the brooke has been able to cope with these 2 heated jackets without any problems, despite a smaller battery, but I worry about all the electronics in a murcie

    2) do you think that I can get a decent power output from the I pad like charger that lives under the flap of the centre console ?

3)how would I best get a cable from the car battery into the cockpit?
-can I use the + power point in the engine bay that I use for charging the battery with the battery tender?
-or do I have to get a cable directly to the cr's battery terminals?

4)how do I best route the cable from the battery/ charging point to the cockpit ?

    5) bearing in mind the heat within the engine bay, what type of cable should I be using?

thanks for any help/advice that you can give me

I am absolutely serious, and would appreciate an equally serious response

driving an open car at an ambient temperature of 7 degrees centigrade becomes pretty cold once you throw in the wind chill factor

I've only had coupes, but the heater works incredibly well. With the windows up you might be okay. With the top on you will be fine.

I frequently drove my 2003 Murci in winter.
