I'm about to pull the trigger on an '05 QP with 20k miles...I don't think you can beat them at today's prices! I've never owned a maser and don't know anyone with a QP...what should I look out for??? Thoughts on maintenance and repair issues from owners would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! -Neil
Lots of problems, rear brakes wear out to soon, clutches don't last, window motor problems, interior door handle problems, numerous electrical problems, leaky power steering racks, sun visors break easily... if this car is outta warranty I'd stay away. The 05's had the typical first year model gremlins.
I agree. I would go for the newer duo select gearbox version, which I think was late 2007. It's a lot better. You'll pay more but you'll enjoy the ride more too. I don't think they break down any more than any other car. In fact, my Mini Cooper is less reliable than my Maserati (so much for the theory of German engineering!). Routine maintenance is no worse than what you'd expect from Porsche. They 1) are gorgeous 2) have magnificent interiors 3) have a fantastic motor under the hood and 4) did I say "gorgeous"? Don't ask about resale though....
I was at the dealer the other day and they had a beautiful 08 sport GT that had been a demo. It had 1200 miles on it and they would let it go for 70K!!! Thats HALF off MSRP! I agree these cars are very tempting for the money
If I were you I'd ONLY go for a '07 and on car. Go for an Automatic transmission, not the duo-select...
That sounds like a great buy on that demo! I'm just not sure I can pass up a 20k mile 2005 in the thirties!
Upper $30's is just around the corner, I passed on a car sub $35k this morning with 30xxx miles because it had prior repaired damage...kind of rethinking that decision now...
Am I wrong on this or is the duo-select not what they call the auto box? If so, then I meant go for the Auto box. Sorry about that!
The duo select has an auto mode which everyone agrees is horrid and wiil wear out your clutch in no time. The 2007s also came with a conventional automatic tranny. The duoselect is considered the more sporty and the conventional auto tranny the more comfortable and is associated with less clutch wear. Personally I would go for the duo select but would buy one with an old fashioned stick shift if it were available.
