They are all 6 speeds, but there are only 39 3 pedals out there, 7 of which, at least, are RHD.

Really? Well good to know. For some reason I thought they were all (or mostly) F1's.

39 out of 559 certainly qualifies for mostly F1.

Hey, BullMrkt - the SA's all have a six speed box; 39 of them also have a clutch pedal. The rest (520) are F1s, which also are six speeds, but the car manipulates the clutch and shifting. The tranny itself is basically the same; the difference is in how the shifts are performed.

Ah ok I see the problem now. When I say "6-speed" I'm referring to a manual 6-speed—F1's are automatics (yes I know what a sequential is).

I thought the manuals were rare and good to know the numbers—39, wow.

Ian- Just so you understand, the F1 and 3 pedal Ferraris of the same model have exactly the same transmission, clutch and throw-out bearing (with different T/O bearing seals for brake fluid (manual) or synthetic ATF (F1)). Only the shifter and clutch actuation mechanisms are different. One does it with foot and hand pressure, the other does it with 800-900 psi hydraulic pressure.

All that being said, the driving experience is absolutely different, in fact night and day.

Not if you drive your F1 like a 3 pedal. If you push the Auto button, which I have never done, yes, very different. Or if you let her auto-shift down to 1st, which I have never done, it is also very different. It all depends on how you drive her.

If proof is required of Taz's point, here's the relevant extract from the owner's manual, which I just happened to be browsing just now. Complete with typo.

Right but the point of the post is the rarity of the manual equipped model. I understand the technical similarities of the transmissions but realistically who would compare the two? One has 3 pedals and a shift lever, the other doesn't—everything else is irrelevant (practically speaking).

A very simplistic view, but yes, the 3 pedals are rarer because very few buyers wanted one when they were for sale new. Same for the F430, 575M, 612, 599, and California. Over 25% of the 360s had three pedals.
