Does anyone know the calendar for next years F1 in particular the Malaysian GP?Thanks
As far as I know the only really firm date regardless of ticket sales is the USGP on July 4 weekend - not sure when the others are to be confirmed
ALL dates are still pending FIA approval, including the USGP. Despite this, the dates for Monaco are set for the next 10 years - in '06 - May 28th; Spa september 17th, San Marino April 16th. We've purchased tickets for the first two and the tickets for Imola will be available next month from what I was told in an email. In fact the special pricing for Spa in effect until November 1st. Finalized calendar normally comes out mid-December. Canada has been shown provisional at June 18th and then I saw it later as June 25th which makes more sense. June 17 & 18 is Le Mans. Carol
most likely, it'll be around the 2nd race of the season, in march. i heard that bahrain is 1st next year, followed by malaysia. aussie is 3rd, due to the commonwealth games. fact is, malaysia will never be in the middle of the season, it's either the start or the ending.
I have also heard that it could possibly be moved after the USGP in July. I just hope that it is not on the weekend of the 25th because I have another engagement that will not allow me to attend the Canadian Grand Prix. ...damn women!
Thanks Remy I went this year and will more than likely go again next year.Believe it or not it is just as cheap if not cheaper to go to Malaysia to watch th F1 then to go and watch it in Melbourne.I live in Sydney and this year when I went it worked out to be cheaper for me
no problemo....1stly, for foreigners, malaysia, apart from china is the best place to watch the race. this is due to the exhange rate. take for example, if ur from UK, a grand stand tic costs about RM900-1200, whic in other words, about 170 pounds. if ur from australia, it costs about around 400 Aussie dollar. so, malaysia is really cheap to watch the race. plus, the hotels here are good and pretty cheap as well, again, due to the exchange rate. well, if ur really comin here, to malaysia, i'll see ya then...
Is anyone else thoroughly confused by the July 4th date for a foreign racing series at Indy? Let's see, one of the most congested traffic weekends in the country, in which most people are into staying close to home (fireworks, BBQs, etc.)... so let's have a race that attracts people from all over the country. I just don't get it. Sure, it's a big weekend for NASCAR, but they fill ___ stadium easily with people within say 50-100 miles of it. I can say with 100% certainty I'll miss Indy this year.
One interesting line from that Reuters report: ---------------------------------------------- "If you make it a qualifying format that reinstates the concept of having the fastest car at the front and the slowest at the back, you are going to have less exciting races. There's nothing more certain," says McLaren's Ron Dennis. ---------------------------------------------- Do I read this, that Ron Dennis supports "my" reversed grid view?
Exactly how would you have a reversed grid based on qualifying with the fastest cars in the back? The fast cars would then try to qualify as slow as possible in order to get to the front. The only way this reversed grid would work is to get rid of qualifying altogether and put last's race 1st place at number 20 on the grid and 20th place of previous race at pole. To start the season, either go by last year's last race or have a qualifying, but in old format (fastest is pole).
Japan was an excellent case of how a "reverse grid" could lead to an exciting race. There was no greater moment this season than seeing Kimi pass Fisi on the last lap. That was simply awesome! Not sure where that would leave "qualifying" as a whole if you simply based starting position on the previous race's finishing order with 1st place starting last. The concept is great though. It would allow for some exciting action instead of a field that starts to spread out with the lead cars ultimately lapping the backmarkers.
It's been the FIA's practice to schedule the Canadian GP on the same weekend as Le Mans for longer than I care to remember. Too bad they cant get over themselves and free up the schedule so some F-1 drivers can give Le Mans a go. But, then again, that pesky Tom K. always seems to be there... BHW
I agree on that. They could do like GP2. For example lets take this format and put some F1 names ... Qualifying on friday.....fastest cars up front.. Race # 1 on saturday: Results: 1. Schumi 2. Alonso 3. Kimi 4. Ralf 5. JPM 6. Fisi 7. Trulli 8. JV 9. Klien 10. Coulthard Starting grid for race #2 on sunday: 1. JV 2. Trulli 3. Fisi 4. JPM 5. Ralf 6. Kimi 7. Alonso 8. Schu 9. Klien 10. Coulthard Its a bit unfair for drivers that finish 9th, 10th. But atleast there is a battle for 8th position to get pole in next race. Honestly, I don't think we will 2 races in one week-end like GP2. Practice on friday, 1 Qualifying on saturday...positions from 1 to 10 on qualifying start from 10 to 1 on sunday + add 11, 12, 13..etc.... ?
F.I.A. should think about the 2006 World Cup Soccer in Germany, that runs from June 9 - July 9, 2006 next summer. That a whole month and 5 Sundays during the World Cup. Sunday July 9, 2006 is the Final in Berlin, Germany. It's the single largest sporting event in the World. At least 3.8 Billions people will watch or hear about the World cup. And Billions on T.V. rights, and adversiting. So I think it's best for Forumla One to have a short 17 races calander for 2006. I can not wait till the World Cup to start. And most of Germany will be watching their team go for their fouth World Cup. The last time Germany host the World Cup in 1974, they won that year. There must some soccer fans on Ferrari Chat. I will be supporting my team Portugal.
RD uses the word 'reinstates' that would imply that the format has changed from the current format. Since when did the current format change that would require a reinstatement back to the current format ??
Here is one big World Cup fan on FChat. You're quite right and I would assume that to some degree they will try to schedule the GPs around the World Cup. After all many of the team members (incl. drivers) are huge soccer fans themselves. OTOH as Barton points out, F1 has a tradition of ignoring other sports events with Le Mans and I think Wimbledon finales and Tour de France have been on GP weekends. To some degree there is also limited wiggle room to move thise races around.
brazil for life...lol...i think italy, brazil, portugal as well as the dutch have a good chance...germany? maybe, if schumi plays...
