While changing the engine oil in my 2006 F430F1, I noticed the Clutch Inspection Port has a threaded hole at each corner that appear to be for a port cover. Apparently sometime in the past, a mechanic neglected to install the cover. A quick check of the parts diagrams at Ricambi (I love that website) revealed that there is no cover listed for that port. Could someone who knows please enlighten me?

Not sure what it looks like on a 430 but on a 360 it is usually a perforated plate. So yes, it is missing.

It doesn't have one. Mine didn't either. There is a thread about it on here somewhere.

On the F430 Challenge cars, the grill was 229836. I don't recall if it fits the standard F430 gearbox. It is a simple little thing... just a drilled sheet really.

Many thanks to everyone who answered, especially Daniel at Ricambi. I could not afford to own this wonderful car without FerrariChat and Ricambi. Thank you, Mark Stewart. Yes, there is an oil leak at the valve cover gaskets. I am addressing the issue (along with others) while I have the thing up on the lift and taken apart. I enjoy twirling wrenches, having worked for 43 years as an aircraft tech. The F430 is pretty easy to work on. The main problem is obtaining correct and appropriate tech data. Thanks again, everyone. Another problem solved with the fantastic FerrariChat community.

It would seem the cover was deleted at the factory. The port is now a clutch cooling dust extraction port and the missing cover saves weight. Win win win. :)

Yes, that part was missing on my F430 as well.

I created a thread on here asking the same question and members chimed in that theirs didnt have it either so I just leave it alone.

Rust prevention. When a Ferrari stops leaking, it simply means you need to refill it.

My cover is also not there. I was however curious how to determine the clutch wear. Anyone has the floor plate off and a reasonable fresh clutch?
A photo of that taken into the inspection hole would be awesome. I suspect mine to be quite worn. The seller informed me, but would be nice to try an esimate how long is left.. hehe

You can have the dealer plug in to it and see how much clutch wear there is.

Charlie, that is only correct IF no one has fiddled with original parameters AND it was set up properly when installed. Honestly, neither is a good bet on these cars now that they are older.

Good info John I did not know that. I was under the impression that the computer could calculate that info regardless. Thanks

Look for clutch disc dust grooves. If these are still present you might have some clutch left. If not no.

Did you ever get any feedback about how this looks for your clutch? I had mine read from a dealer but I’m not sure I trust them. I looked at this inspection port on mine and wondered about it.
