I'm about to purchase a 2006 F430 coupe with 8500 miles. It's yellow/black and has the following options: F1 transmission, yellow calipers, yellow stitching, carbon fiber cabin and paddles, and a leather rear shelf. It also has an aftermarket exhaust. The clutch was checked and found to be 10.7% worn this past August and the brakes still had 75% life left. I noticed when going through the maintenance paperwork that there was nothing for 2010. Everything else seems to be there. It's due for it's next service in a few months.

The price we've tentatively agreed on is $134,800. Does this seem like a fair price to you guys? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Does $134 include service due ??
That seems a bit too high for a coupe. I'd say there is $5 to 10k room to move down on price.

    I'd agree with above.

Try to get a bit more but remember.... never lose a good car for a few grand. If you really like this car, get the price you can live with and buy it.

If not, move to the next. Just don't keep moving forever.

just speaking numbers.. if they want $134, and you're at $129.. don't let the $5k kill the deal if its the car you want... I'm sure u and the seller can work this out.

The car is worth $127-$132 IMHO. Why Not buy Piper's 06' Spider for just a bit more than you are spending...His car is the one to buy if you want yellow!

yeah I am selfish coz I want it, but since the cat is out of the bag.. if anyone is buying right now.. you owe it to yourself to check Bob's spider.. best deal ever. Take it to PM tho because then the bottom feeders will think Bob's pricing is now the new standard and quote it each time when people buy spiders normally lol.

$134,800 is pretty high. Even $125k might be being generous. Prices are moving targets and 430s/360s are still depreciating and a lot of this will depend on how you approach the situation, the sellers motivations, etc but since you are asking my guess would be $120-125k. There is an '06 430 coupe recently on the market which is a 6 spd with 25k miles and he is asking $123k but I would imagine it will sell for closer to $105-110k, again, depending on a number of factors, including seller motivation.

Karl, you have first right of refusal, buddy. Let's get it done, my friend.

To the OP, you didn't mention whether you have shields, daytona's or power seats. That matters. I assume shields as most do, but not all. My car has all important options but yellow piping instead of daytona's. Both would be a bit much, IMHO. I bought the car at 3600 miles a year ago with 7% clutch wear. The car currently has 6920 miles, and I've babied the clutch. It's also a spider. Yellow looks better with the top down :D I also thought, foolishly, that I'd keep the car forever, and bugged the crap out of FOW until they gave me the new exhaust manifolds. That's a $10k+ value right there. Make me a reasonable offer. Ignore the price on cars.com. Make me an offer.

Like everyone else I think the price is on the high side. I'm sure that you can find a cheaper car, but the it may not be the car you want. Also a cheaper car is going to be less desirable, has been listed for a while or being sold by someone who needs the money. Thus it may be a while before a cheaper car comes along that you want, so I guess the question is how long do you want to wait.

Thanks for all the input! I really want a coupe, or I'd jump at Piper's spider. I'm about to talk to the dealer again, so hopefully I can get him to come down some. However, I think you guys are right. In the scheme of things, if its the car I really want I may have to just pay the extra $4-5K and be happy. Thanks!

I'm going to go against the grain and say that your 135k number isn't that far off. I bought my red & tan 06 late last year for 138 including a fresh service, CPO inspection and some other things that were missing, like the all-important $200 ferrari flashlight :). Same mileage. I felt like I was on the high end of the coupe spectrum price-wise, as asking prices were 144-149 at that time for most similar models, but it was a solid 1-owner L.A. car with all records and accessories, so I didn't want to lose it.

I assume it has daytonas and shields, and if so it sounds like a very nice example of a car. Does it have all of the manuals, car covers and tool kits? Does it have a low # of previous owners (this is more important to some than others).

See if you can get some things thrown in like the service that's due (for sure), the CPO inspection and delivery (if applicable). You might even be able to get them to toss in a 1yr warranty after it passes the CPO. Don't forget to factor in sales tax into the mix as well.

As some have said above, don't miss out on the car of your dreams for a couple thousand bucks - in a few months you're not going to care if you spent 130 or 135 if you got a great car. You'll be driving a FERRARI.

They probably skipped the 2010 service, but you can have the dealership check via VIN.

DuPont Registry suggests that Nashtyboy is on to something. There are 12 '06 F430 F1 Coupes listed and their average asking price is $140.8K. The highest is $154.9K and the lowest is asking $128.9K and that one has 23K miles on it. The next lowest is asking 133.9K and that has 15K miles. It sounds like the dealer is right in the market so if you love the car, don't let it go over a few K, esp if you think you're going to have it for some time.

Dupont asking prices do not set the prices, selling prices determine the market.

I recently received an email from an Fcar dealership with comp sales of 2006 430 spiders. Averaged $149k for cars that averaged 8k miles. I'd assume that coupes would go for $15-20k less.

Thanks again to everybody for your input! I spoke with the dealer at length and he wouldn't go below $134K (it originally started at $137,800 and then went to $134,800 before yesterday when we agreed on $134,000). I love the car and didn't want it to slip away for a few thousand dollars, so I agreed to the deal. Can't wait for it to get shipped to me!
