In a word: yes. From those that have driven both previous MY's and the current cars, I hear that MY06's are meaningfully transformed by the updates.

For somebody who can't get enough of my MY05, I can't believe the car has been improved still. Can't wait to get behind the wheel of a MY06.

    I'd still take the 430 or better yet a 360CS. For a Lambo, I'd go for a 6.0 SE.

FYI: The SE is mechanically identical to the 06 Gallardo. Only styling differentiates the 2 cars.

We are quite aware of that, but i hes talking about the 2001 Diablo 6,0 SE. Not the 2006 Gallardo SE

Speaking from experience, I have driven 04, 05 and now own an 06 (SE) and while the power is virtually the same, the lower gearing is the key that makes it feel different. Changes are noticeable, without a doubt.

I'm sure it's a heck of a car, the full performance equal of a 430 I would expect. I still wish they offered a RWD model. And this quote from the article is NOT the way to sell me a car, ymmv of course.

"In dazzling yellow, the Lambo hams it up for all it is worth. It’s the design you would get if you gave a nine-year-old a box of crayons and asked them to design a supercar."

You're right, that line would never sell to those with one foot in the grave, absolutely.

But for the rest of us, who believe a $200k supercar shouldn't look like something Hyundai offers, and instead should convey the impression that it belongs on the grid at Le Mans, a child's limitless imagination is perfect.

Don't get boring on us now Gary, or I'll have to start making you regret positive comments you made on the Enzo's look. Is it similarly childish too? ;)

Oops, my bad. I read the post too fast and thought he said "06 SE".

Depends on how you interpret the quote. How many of us at the age of 9 had a poster of a Countach on our walls? Probably the majority. Exotic cars are the stuff of dreams at that age. Much of that becomes lost when we acheive a solid financial position and actually attain the cars.

I said I like the Enzo's look? Don't recall that. I am not a big fan of the Enzo styling. In fact, if offered any car (future value not a consideration), I would probably take a Carrera GT.

And yes, I am older than most of you guys on this board, and I have no problem with anyone else's taste in cars, I was just giving MY opinion.

Well put. There is no greater compliment to a supercar stylist than to say he has created the essential supercar shape as a child would dream it. (I can still remember drawing supercars in class too!) :)

Wayne, sounds incredible but I get antsy if I'm without my car for a weekend so I couldn't handle the downtime!

Could he turn the boost down so to cut down on parts breaking? What was the final 0-60 and qtr times? How much will the TT add to top speed?

I am very interested in the observations of those who have driven an 05 Gallardo and compared it to the 06; I have an 05 6 Speed, and I have now placed an order for an 06 6 speed through Sport Auto in North Carolina. I will be happy to report my observations sometime early this spring when the car arrives. Until then, additional comments and driving impressions similar to those in this thread would be much appreciated!
