i would use common sense.

 

rolled ? unless it is very very very very very very heavily discounted - why would you bother ?

 

There is no way anyone can answer that question without more knowledge of the car and damage sustained in the rollover.

Did it drive off an embankment at 10mph and roll over slowly on soft ground? Did it rollover on the freeway at 100mph? Did it roll 1x or 10x...

and what is the price.

Without specifics the advice you get is worthless...

 

I've been told repeatedly by a friend who owns a high-end body shop that roll overs are generally better than a significant front end collision. Reason being, the mechanicals are unaffected. Again, all of this is circumstantial.

 

Why bother? It's not like there are no other m5's out there. And good luck trying to sell it. Run Forest run.......

Well, it's not like a 2006 M5 is a rare collector car. And you're going to have to explain the whole rollover story to the next guy anyway. And there's no way the body gaps are going be factory spec. And it's hard to explain all the grass and twigs hanging out of the rain gutters.

So... buy another one

Yeah, that does seem to happen a lot. Maybe if they firmed up the suspension...

 

If it's cheap and already repaired, go for it. If it ever needs a major repair, just part it out. I'll buy the front seats.

 

Could your friend afford another M5, or is this his opportunity to step into an M5 that he could not otherwise afford?

 

Rules when buying high end cars { no real order}

1. Buy the newest one you can afford.

2. If you can't afford a good condition model, then you really can't afford a poor condition model.

3. A cheaper car due to lack of maintenance, ownership or damage is usually just as expensive as buying the good condition car with less hassle and stress.

4. If you can't follow the three rules above, wait for another time to buy the car.
