Ok you Ferrari diehards, how diehard are you? I'm planning on attending the Monterey Weekend again this coming Aug 17-20'th. Yes I really go and have been for past 15 years or so. I wanted to see if there was any interest in any Chicago folks in grouping together. I usually crash with friends in Morgan Hills CA. about 45 minutes away, but could be convinced to seek lodging closer but you need to see about booking now and it might already be too late. Agenda usually is: Wed Aug 16, fly into San Fran and bum around city, visit Ferrari and other dealers, can go out to Blackhawk museum, a really cool high end car museum. Thurs Aug 17 - (FREE Event) attend the Pebble Beach rally where most of the cars from the Concours go on an actual 50? mile run. Starts at 8:00 am from PB polo fields and stops in downtown Carmel for lunch, also view some of the upcoming auction's cars Fri Aug 18 - ($100) Concorso Italiano at Blackhorse golf course. More Ferraris than any other place on earth. Later attend either road rally where anyone's car can cruise and/or attend one of the many auctions Sat Aug 19 - ($75) Laguna Seca Historic Car Races, some of the most famous historic cars in the world are here, puts Road America's version to shame. You can't believe the variety and quantity. More variety of auctions at night. Lucky to have driven two of the cars up to the auction block at the main RM auction last year (big thrill, had to thank my friend for arranging that surprise - a 64 1/2 Mustang convt and a 34 MB convert) he drove a Lotus Esprint. a vintage Jag, and I let him drive my assigned real 427 Cobra) Sun Aug 20 ($150) PB Concours The Big Event, get there early (6 am) to watch the cars roll in and set up. If you want to really experience a fantastic car weekend this is the event for you. So if anyone is interested in joining up let me know. Some tickets go on sale now at reduced rates and then increase slowy as the events approach. If not then I'll be taking plenty of pics and video as I usually do to share.
Ok my plane reservations are made and I'm trying to reserve the new Hertz Shelby GT-H for that weekend. Still seeing if any locals are planning to attend this great annual event. I know Mike E. ususally goes but anyone else interested? We could meet up out there. An alternative for some of you is Meadowbrook Concours outside of Detroit, usually the first weekend of Aug. It's suppose to be the third greatest concours in the world. Great Amercian classics, if you are into them, but last time I attend I only saw one Ferrari and very few sports cars at the various events, so not my cup of tea, but good for first timers or once in a life time event.
Man, I most Definitely would LIKE to go....But, I don't think that me old broken down Knee will be up to it. I can barely walk right now! You and Frankie are going to have to carry me around Indy already as it is!!!! (Just Kidding!!!!....I hope!!! ) But I will most likely be getting a total Knee replacement sometime this year. So, hopefully by next year. I really need to walk off all of this weight that I've gained so that I can get back to what I weighed when I was 15 years old.... (approx. 1/3 of what I do now.... ) Image Unavailable, Please Login
