Do all torque tubes make some noise? Does any one know what specifically fails in the torque tube? Is it repairable or do you really have to buy a new one? My tube seems to be making a loud rotational chirping sound, found a little rust on the transmission end of the tube, and a little looseness on the input collar of the torque tube, but no indication of damage. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've seen a few of these with the large bearing in the end of the bell housing not being secured against the housing. They will make a squealing noise especially on initial take off. If, and I repeat if, that's the condition you have two choices, replace the bell housing, or find a way to secure the bearing the existing bell housing. Replace the bearing regardless.

There is an issue with torque tube bearings becoming loose and rattling, especially on start up before everything heats up and tightens. You should be able to locate this with a stethoscope if this is in fact your problem (does not sound like the noise you described). I believe this is an under-engineering issue and will be a recurring problem if replaced with the OEM part. I don't know of an alternate solution, but I would love to hear one.

There is an issue with the throw out bearing squealing on initial take off, but that has nothing to do with the torque tube.

I don't think a torque tube, properly functioning, should make any funny noises. I also think that you should be able to repair most problems. They are very expensive to replace.
