I have your solution, get a gt2. Turbo engine with gt3 chassis. Better yet get the new gt2 rs. :) It's a service I provide, this kind of genius advice.

As long the advice is now deviating away from the OP's desired options, I recommend saving ~$40K & buying a 996 GT3. It's a killer car -your first 911 might be the last one you'll want to own & if not, its already depreciated and won't lose nearly as much value as the 2007's.

no apology needed. we all love our cars and we don't want to hear people "dissing" our cars. Thanks for your input.

I have decided on a 997. I don't want to settle for a 996 and spending time later wishing I had bought a 997. I know a 996 these days can be had for relatively cheap for such a good performance car. I am just not a fan of the 996 look.

Thanks all for your inputs. I am still pretty much 50/50 on which car I am going to buy. At first I was leaning towards GT3 but after hearing two in this thread selling their GT3 because it's too rought for the street, it does give me some pause. Is it that rough? I guess I will have to eventually test ride it to feel it out. I would be happy with either car though. There is a dark blue 997tt on 6speed now with a GT2 wing that looks so nice but I am not a fan of blue car though. I used to have a blue M3, so my next sports car has to be a different color.

You could aways do what I did to my car, send my shop a 997 and 120K and 11 months later you will have a car that does the 1/4 is 11sec on street tires weighs around 2500 lbs and will can only be driven in nice weather. There will be a lot of stuff missing when you get the car back though. The truth is if I was to buy another Porsche it would be a Caymen S and I'd throw a turbo on it, and do some weight saving stuff, but my car mod days are over, I have my last two moded cars in my garage. In case you have not read one one my any rants about AWD, I think all AWD sports cars should be removed from the road crushed and used to make houses for the needy all over the world.

op if you have interest I thinking to sell my '05 997 Carrera S 6-speed manual. 5k miles and in new condition in every way. No stories of any kind. Fikse monoblocks, Maxflo muffler, H&R lowering springs but otherwise stock. Atlas grey metallic.
