    History
Audi reserves the RS, or RennSport, moniker for the most exclusive, top-of-the-food-chain vehicles in their lineup. They don’t make them often and when they do, there are not many to go around. Here in North America, the B7 series of Audi’s A4 lineup ran from 2004 to 2009 but the RS-ified variant was only available in 2007 and 2008. While the folks from Ingolstadt were already offering high performance in their S4 model, the RS4 is an altogether different animal.

Visually, it features a 1.5” wider front and 1.9” wider rear track, versus the regular A4, to improve handling. Hence those beautifully bulging haunches you’ll only find on the RS4. Under the seemingly normal hood resides a naturally aspirated 4.2L V8 beast, calmly waiting to scream up to an 8,250-rpm redline and on to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. Audi’s legendary Quattro AWD system distributes the power to all four corners via 6-speed manual, the only transmission available. Did someone say wintertime four-wheel drifting?

    Exterior
Finished in Daytona Gray Pearl, this 2007 RS4 presents well and features paint protection film on the front end. RS4 identifiers include satin silver mirrors, dual oval exhaust pipes, integrated rear spoiler and of course the hulking fenders. The original 19” wheels, which show some curb rash, are mounted in Michelin Alpin rubber, sized 255/35 with 2017 date codes. They frame a Brembo braking system featuring cross-drilled rotors with 8-piston front calipers finished in black.

There is no rust present on the vehicle, however, the seller notes a previous accident resulted in $2,848 of repair work. The front bumper appears to have been repainted and is fitted with a non-original grille. Additionally, the passenger side front door may need some work per the seller.

    Interior
Factory Recaro seats are upholstered in black leather with white piping and embossed RS4 logos. The front seats are heated and power-adjustable with bolster and cushion wear detailed in the gallery. Carbon fiber trim is used throughout the cabin and, like the dashboard and door panel surfaces, appears to be in good condition.

The perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a clear instrument panel with analog gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level as well as a digital display screen. The 9,000-rpm tachometer with inset time and date readout features an RS4 logo and the 200-mph speedometer has an inset digital odometer.

Atop the center console is a Sport button that steps up throttle response and opens up the integrated exhaust valves. Featuring DVD-based GPS navigation, a 6-disc glovebox-mounted CD changer and satellite radio, this RS4 is optioned with the Audi Navigation Plus system. It came with a 10-speaker Bose audio system that looks to have been upgraded with an Alpine subwoofer mounted in the trunk. Additional amenities include a sunroof, memory settings for the driver’s seat and HomeLink receiver integrated into the sun visor.

    Mechanical
Making 420 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque when new, the original 4.2L V8 sits in a clean engine bay that has been upgraded with a Gruppe M carbon fiber intake cover. A Getrag 6-speed manual was the only transmission offered on the B7 RS4 and it sends power to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro AWD system.

Engine highlights include a baffled oil sump to prevent cavitation at the limit, a cast magnesium and aluminum alloy intake manifold and dynamic valves within the exhaust. The suspension setup features lightweight magnesium-aluminum alloy linkages and hollow anti-roll bars from the factory that has been modified with a Bilstein coilover system.

Within the last month, the seller has changed the oil and replaced the spark plugs, cabin air filter, coolant hoses, fuel injectors and catalytic converters. Service records from January 2008 through 2019 are included with the sale.

    Details
This 2007 Audi RS4 was originally sold in Santa Monica, California before making its way to British Columbia a few years later. The current owner then purchased the car and had it shipped to the current location in Montreal, Quebec where 1,000 of the 141,000 total kilometers have been added during three months of ownership. An extensive gallery provides detail on the condition of this lovely RS4, an all-time Audi modern classic.
