2008 Big 12 Track and Field Championships in Boulder this weekend

    Hey all,

    CU will be hosting the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships this year, and it will be held May 16-18 at Potts Field in Boulder. If you're a fan or the sport or want to see some future 2008 Beijing Olympic athletes run, jump or throw, you should come to the meet. (In 2004, the Big 12 meet had 20 participants in it who went on to compete at Athens. Our Indoor conference meet in Nebraska last February produced multiple world-leading marks at the time!! :eek: )

    Ticket packages are available online at cubuffs.com. All-Session passes are $10 while Adult Single Session passes are available for $6. Senior (55 & up) and Student (13-18) single session tickets are $5 and youth single session (12 & under) are available for $2.


    If you know CU track, you know we're a distance-oriented program. As a team, we are ranked 11th in the NCAA. One of our seniors, Brent Vaughn (of Smoky Hill HS in Aurora) is currently ranked 1st in the NCAA an 4th in the WORLD in the 5k. We have many other runners, men and women, ranked in the top twenty in the NCAA, including a sprinter who ran a 10.35 100m two weeks ago. I was supposed to be competing, but back problems ended my season in early March :( I dont know if I would be able to keep up with some of the marks I just listed, but I would have been competing against a olympic-hopeful in the decathlon, which would of been fun...
