I totally screwed up. I gave my tips, then a day later changed them BUT I only changed the trifecta table, not the race table so I got like 14 points from the race table, zero points from the bonus table and even though I topped the trifecta I will get less than 100 points. 95 in all I believe.
P.S. Don't do the trifecta. You will most likely only get one per year and that means missing out on many many point from the quinella. I only went for the trifecta because I was so far behind. I put my tips in on Wed or Thurs and forget about them, If I focused like I did this weekend I would have had a much better season. But since there isn't cash involved, I don't care much.
I haven't done the trifecta yet, but after the fact I can say I should have done it, this was the sencond time this season that I picked all 3 in correct order.
That's what 130 points? If you Quinella all the time and are right 50% of the time that's 135 points and much easier to do. It's only the top two drivers and order doesn't matter. As a long time gambler {on F1 too} the general rule of thumb is to take moderate risks. Betting everything on one horse all of the time is a poor stratagy. If you go back to last years results, this years pace, look at the time charts for the sectors, laps, speed traps etc you'll know who has the best all around lap. 10 minutes of prep before you submit your tips will increase your points over the year. Getting 12's because you trifecta'd every race will leave you well behind. P.S. When Schumacher was winning race after race it still wasn't a sure bet for me. I bet against him twice in 2004 when he went 13 Wins and 5 Not Wins, The first was Monaco because it's so tight there {He was taken out by Montoya} and then China, he finished 9th I think. Always go with the safe bet because a lot of others will risk it all most of the time and come up empty. There's nothing worse than having to bet a large sum and hit it perfectly just to break even for the year.
who in the heck can pick the quinella 50% of the time, look back through the 1-2/2-1 results all year and tell me you can guess those 50%.
Gained in our league, but dropped like 10 places overall in F1Tipping. Several got the trifecta, I've been going for the tri all year, but backed off this time to protect my lead.
My point was, getting a trifecta twice in a season is nearly impossible and if you miss you get nothing. If you quinella all of the time, it's more likely that you will get it 50% of the time compared with two trifectas. Even if you don't score 50% all of the time say even 25% you still should be farther ahead than if you tried the trifecta all year. I checked and I would have had eight quinellas if I didn't go for the trifecta all year. Now If I actually took some time before submitting my tips, I could have scored a lot of points that I missed. P..S. F1Tipping is updated. http://www.f1tipping.com/F1Tipping/Standings.aspx?l=304
and I went from 6th to 3rd, but it's gonna be a tough one, the last race is gonna be hard to call, Hami doesn't need to do any better than 4th to lock it up no matter what Massa does, so will he back off a bit or will he just go for it????
fuzzy math. I've tried both ways, when I stuck with quinella all year I actually never hit it more than 2-3 times. In past I have stuck with tri all year and never hit it. This year I've stuck with tri and hit it once and would have hit it China but like I said went back to quinella to protect my lead. I might agree with you that quinella over the years will give you a higher average, but fact is to win our league and to even have a chance at the overall F1Tipping you have to hit the tri a couple times, although this year I might be OK with just 1 tri and 1 quenilla hit because my race predictions were strong.
Well if you want to beat a thousand people then yes, you'll have to go big for most of the time because a small number of people will be getting a few trifectas per year. As for "our" league, just study the things I mentioned above and be consistant and you'll be top five. I'm 11th and I just guess all year.
Well I picked Massa first and Kimi third for Qualy, so there's 20 points, but I have Trulli for last finisher, so there goes 10 points. Anyone score big for Qualy?
ERR those picks will only net you 17 points as you get 10 for FM and 6 for KR plus 1 point for your missed pick I ended up the same points for Qualifying with 17 as I had FA picked for 2nd.
I got the Massa thing right but went against my first instinct and picked Kimi 2nd and Hami 3rd, had I flipped those two as I initially planned I would be tied with you two on Quali... But there's a long race to go tomorrow and anything can happen... I'm holding on for dear life for that last podium spot....
I don't think you have anything to worry about Rob, unless someone in the top 5 or 6 hits the trifecta which is highly unlikely for this race due to the circumstances, you will be first, the remaining podium spots are up for grabs though...
At least if Rob was racing, someone could run up to him and club him in the knee, that seems to work well.
Are there odds on how long it will take for the final results to get posted on the F1tipping site??? I hope it doesn't take as long as last race. I didn't do all that well this time and I'm daying to know if I held onto 3rd spot.... Something tells me I didn't but you never know...
I myself am quite interested in seeing the final results as this race should be my best score of the season. The way i figure it i ended up with 73 points for Brazil.
You sure did, and I did terrible, I went from 3rd to 6th overall and from 1st to 2nd in race picks... and the big stunner, the last lap pass of Rob for the win... I'm gonna have to get back into the wind tunnel and make some chassis adjustments and get ready for next season...LOL
