+1...plenty of other options to see racing - passing, drama and an element of unpredictability. Try DTM for example. I will go next year for F1, 2 races like this year, but there are real options out there in terms of racing. Its not just F1 that offers the racing experience. I miss seeing the Ferrari 333SP at Daytona/LeMans and other venues. F1 cars are loud and fantastic, the ripping silk sound of the engine in the 333 was a symphony!!!

Good luck to him then. Without traction control he is going to morph back into the driver from Sauber who couldn't keep his car on the track and out of the wall.

Prove me wrong. Nothing supports a conspiracy theory, and driver egos especially Alonso's support my position.

I love these conspiracy theories that have no underlying proof...

You are right. With Alonso's behavior during the season, why would he throw away the championship? Only to leave the team?

And Hamilton, to be the youngest and only rookie WDC, no amount of behind the scenes bribes would change the ultimate career long glory of those distinctions that would allow him to take a dive.

Just not at all logical. Even for F1.

More attention to the sport is all well and good, but I don't think it's for the right reasons. Having more people watch the sport just because of what happened last year, or some driver, I think is stupid. In the years from I'd say 1998-2006, F1 was so popular and loved because of one reason: The cars were so damned fast. That's what got me into it. Watching the cars was like watching a video game, they were just unreal fast. I don't really care what happens in it as far as off track issues, or wrecks, or some awesome new driver: I wish it was 2000-2005 all over again.

Actually ratings declined during the years of Schumacher and Ferrari's domination. Another stretch like 2000-2005 would kill the sport's appeal for many.

I think we are nearing another halcyon day for F1 with several drivers all competitive for the title. Can you imagine how exciting F1 will be if Renault, Williams and BMW up their game or Honda and Toyota get their acts together? This could be more like the early 1980s where no one knew who would win the title at the beginning of the season.

For those of you who are relatively new to the sport or only began following F1 during Schumacher's years, you have no idea how exciting the future with Kimi at Ferrari, Hamilton at McLaren, Alonso likely at Renault and guys like Rosberg and Heidfeld waiting in the wings.
