Looking to purchase a scuderia but was wondering your opinions. Would you rather have a low mileage (<10,000) 2008 or high mileage ( >20,000) 2009 and the 2009 is 10K more expensive?

All other things being equal (color, interior, wear and tear, etc) but the 2009 will have the carbon package

2009 always command a premium ... Other than the U.S. Carbon package I don't see why. I would rather go with the car that is more what I am looking for... And preferably less wear and use as well as better maintained.

Many 08's also have the carbon package and are identical to the 09. Buy the 08.

If you are planning to put miles on your car, like it should be since it is a car and not a statue, then buy the lower miles one (as the price difference it's not big).

If you plan on buying the car and let her sit in a garage because you think you'll get rich by selling it in 10 years (like most on this forum do) then buy the one you like most.

The only concern on the higher milage car is clutch wear since usually between 30 and 40K miles you'll need a new one.

Enjoy and drive your scud at least 10K miles a year.Cheers

I'll always take lower miles over a car that is just one year newer. As stated above, many '08s, like mine, have the carbon package. If your '08 does, I'd go with that one, all other things being equal (condition, color, paperwork, etc.).

As an aside, I've never understood why the '09s command a premium over the '08s today. At this point, they're both creeping up on being 10 years old. At some point, I'm thinking that one year difference will no longer matter, again, all other things being equal.

Thanks for the input and I feel the same about the lower mileage car. To put a twist, what if the 08 was not a U.S. car? Would that change your mind?

I would purchase the car that has the options and color that I was looking for. Don't settle for anything less.

Pros and cons to all cars really. How many owners? How have they been taken care of? Who is selling it and has it been inspected? Which one has the options you prefer? Clutch condition? Brake life left? Paint condition? Any accidents? etc. I would want to know more honestly.

The nice thing about higher miles is that there is a good chance that any problems have been shaken out and fixed.

You can always add a carbon front lip and carbon rear diffuser for much less than $10k. 2009 will have CF headlights , which is great, but be ready to maintain them. 2008's also have the mismatched airbag alcantara, which should be an easy fix... If you're willing to fix it.

Just know that all these concerns you have are concerns other people will have when you are selling the car. I was just having this convo at the dealer today... Most Ferrari buyers are very very picky!!!! Most people would pay more and get the perfect example. So knowing that when you sell a car that has high miles, is an 08, off color, no stripe, no alcantera , best up interior, accident history, not a U.S. Car, no or limited service history... You will have a hard time selling it or you have to sell cheap.

A lot of people won't buy the Scud if it doesn't have the LED on the steering wheel ... That's how picky F drivers are! I know I am :)

Why not pay the extra money and just get what you really want? I rather not buy anything Than settle for something I don't want
