Nice car, however...an analog clock makes it look very 80s era IMHO

I bought one a few months ago and I can honestly say it is one of my favorite cars and I have some very nice cars! These are going to become modern classics very soon! Prices in Europe and UK are already hardening

Did you know that your brain converts a digital clock reading into an image of an analog clock face inside your head? If someone tells you that it's 10 minutes before 2, your brain forms an image of a clock with the hands in the smiley face position. Not sure why MB put a clock in the primary instrument cluster. I'd rather have water temp and oil pressure in that space.

Great car, though. Performance specs pretty similar to my Maranello, including the analog clock. Good luck on the sale!

Nice car, in the perfect colour combo. The seats are some of the best out there as the bolsters really hug you in those tight turns. Jeremy Clarkson is known to own one of these and it perfectly fits his personality on TV.

It's a sweet car, but I think you may be nearly 30k overpriced...

For those that have or currently own one, what are the maintenance costs like? This sounds like a really fun car but I have never owned an AMG car before.

I have had 2 C63 AMG's, which is essentially a more livable version on the CLK63 Black series AMG. The differences are the wide body, stiffer suspension, and uptuned version of the same engine, and the CLK Black's lack of rear seats.

My current C63 AMG is actually flash-tuned to have more HP and Torque than the stock CLK 63 black series, and it is probably the funnest daily driver that I can imagine.

My car has been out of warranty for a few months and so far no issues. Regular maintenance requires Service A or service B, which cost about $300-$500, 30,000service is $1000-1500 as everything including limited slip differential is done (if you have this option on your AMG) independents, just like Ferrari are 50-25% cheaper. I have a recall to do on a rear tail light, my antennae was replaced under warranty after about 15,000 miles. Otherwise both of my AMG's have been solid and strong. However, your biggest costs will come from gas and running through sets of rear tires, as these are the best versions of modern Muscle cars on the planet.

We have a 2004 E55 (W211) - not a black series car but still an AMG (5.5 liter supercharged V8). We have put almost 100k on it by now, and it is starting to see the odd $1500 repair, like AC computer died. We had extended warranty and they did a water pump towards the end (started leaking). They eat lower ball-joints, but I would say it has been a solid daily driver for close to 10 years with scheduled maintenance at the MB dealer being fairly inexpensive. The interior and exterior have held up very well showing zero wear, essentially, but neither my wife, son, or I are hard on the cars. I would not hesitate to buy another.

The W211 e55's are different from the W211 63 engines which is what the black series is powered by.

To the OP have you had any issues with the valvetrain? I know MB has had many issues with the 63 engines and valvetrain problems and oiling. Have you had any problems?

I had one and when I purchased it from a dealer in NY he told me it was perfect and carfax backed it up. After receiving the car in AZ I went to title and register it to my dismay it failed Smog, this car had been previously modded by someone who knew very little about performance and made a mess of this machine, 1000's later I got it all sorted and it left such a bitter taste in my mouth I sold it $52500 black on black 27000 miles. It is a truly amazing car fun to drive a total sleeper until you looked close. I would recommend buying one that is stock that is where you will find value and the collect ability of these, not in modded out street racers. I learned a great resource to check YOUTUBE these are so rare you can see if the car you want to buy was being used to sling shot around mall parking lots or burnouts in front of their house. I will probably own another black series, but this time a C63 coupe. All of these cars will collect it will just take due time for them to get there.
