Hmmmm....I won't be at Calabogie. :( I'm heading straight for Arc the Hotel when I arrive and then to Preston street.

The Mrs is allergic to race tracks. ;)

Well, I and a few other guys from the FCA Ottawa chapter are 348 owners and are getting to know them pretty well (as we are all mechanically inclined) so you can get help from us should something go awry with the 348... I live 10 minutes from Preston St. so we wouldn't have to go far... I have a garage full of tools and more importantly, a beer fridge full of beer... we can figure anything out. :D:D

Which reminds me... as an extra incentive for the southern Ontario Ferrari owners to join us for the Ferrari festival, how 'bout this: CHEAP BEER!! Yes a little known fact (even for Ottawa residents) that just across the river into Quebec lies cases of 24s for the unheard-of prices (in Ontario) of 19.99-24.99$ for popular beer such as Labatt's Blue, Sleeman's, Molson Canadian, etc. plus deposit instead of the 38-40$ prices in Ontario. I think the cases of 24 for Coronas are about 30$... So to offset the high price of gas this year, you could leave with a trunk full of cheap beer!

Just thought I'd throw that out there... now the secret's out!!!

Cool... look for me... I'll be easy to spot... I'll be the guy with a sad look on his face all weekend because his Ferrari isn't ready for the festival... I'm thinking of putting my Ferrari fender shields on the X5 to ease the pain!!

    :)

I will bring along some F-stickers for your X5 LoL - look forward to meeting you at the track !

  5. Thanks for the tip. My ferraris spend thier summer in Canada in the 1000 Islands Region. So, if I ever head east on the 401 I would consider using a local mechanic in the Ottawa area, rather than tow back to Syracuse NY. Just like you, no authorized dealer in Syracuse, but there are plenty of Ferraris/Lambos in the area that go to a specialist who is trained and has taken great care thus far.....Just good to know of people I can count on. Thanks again!!!
    Keep your eyes out for a rosso/tan 1990 348 ts and a Grigio titanium/black 1997 550. Both w/ NY plates!

Calabogie is free to the public and there are public viewing areas to see all the cars circulating the track.

    What a weekend!!!!

Hats off (and cheers and kudos!!!!) to the folks at FCA-Ottawa for organizing this!!!. Everyone in attendance was just super; the most grounded, un-pretentious bunch of (good-ole-boys) Ferrari owners that I've ever met.

It was nice to put some faces to some of the F-chatters on board.

    Pics to follow!!!

    Hi All,

Here are pics from the track day... it was my first time at the track and I've got to say I had a blast... don't know what the official Ferrari count was but I would say about 20 or so for the track event. There were also regular members of the Xclusive Auto group with Porsches, BMW M3s, Lotus, Vipers, Corvettes and even a Radical. There was also an Integra Type R that was amazingly fast... don't know what was under the hood but it had no trouble keeping up with the Vipers.

The track construction isn't complete as there are no grandstands built yet and no real amenities... the only places to view the cars on the track are on the straightaway along the pits and final turns before this straightaway... it's a work in progress but I like it so far.

I saw "1000 Islands Donzi's" 550 in the parking lot but no sign of the owner... I assumed he was on the track with his 348...

Elio from Auto Bugatti was there with his crew and 2 Challenge cars (a 430 and a 360) along with a 360CS, a 997 GT3RS and more. The GT3 sounded amazing on the track... along with the 355 and 348s... to my surprise, I didn't think the 430s sounded that great but they do look awesome.

Here are some pics from the Italian car parade... there were a lot of really nice Fiats and Alfa Romeos but since this is F-Chat, I'll show the Ferraris only... I would guesstimate the total number of Ferraris on Preston this year to be around 38-40 which is pretty good considering we were supposed to get crappy weather all weekend.

I tried to cover the range of Ferraris from the 430/430 spyder right down to the very special 246 Dino on hand this year. We had a beautiful 575M but it didn't make it to the parade this year as it suffered a "minor" issue... but we hope to see it next year.

I was on the track too with my red 360 Modena which is the only red 360 Modena; it was really fun with the 430 & 360 Challenge cars. There were a few Elise and they were doing very good; instead Elise is known to be good on track but on 3 straight; it was a bit slow compare to the big guys.

Thanks Dan for posting the pictures; the red Modena (car #28) was my car chasing the white porsche and chased by the 430 C. .. it was really fun; unfortunately, it was raining for a while that caused Xclusive's 550 crashed but only little damage to the front and also the exclusive yellow elise get damage on the driver side door by human mistake .... bad day for Xclusive ; besides that it was a perfect day. fun fun fun !

Hey, Dan - I forgot if we chatted or not; I was with my wife and 2 kids.

    Hey Kyle,

That's Peter you're talking about and he did well on the track... his turbo Elise is quite fast and did quite well against the v8 and v10 cars out there... although he admitted to me he could not catch up to that Integra...

Yeah it really was Friday the 13th!!! 2 incidents that could have been worse... if I remember, your 360 was going to be the recipient of that "human mistake" you described above had it not stopped in time... that would have made 3 cars out of the festival.

Just so you can place me, I was the guy sending the cars out of the Dow Honda paddock for the Speed zone...

Congratulations to Giuseppe Castrucci and all the volunteers for pulling off a great event. Awesome turnout considering the weather forecast.

BTW that black Dino was stunning.
