I am looking for a new daily driver and came across a lightly used 2009 Carrera S with about 7k miles. This 2WD Carrera is Guards Red with Sand Beige interior and is equipped with the standard manual transmission. The asking price is 75K.

I have heard the raves about the PDK, but I am old fashioned and prefer the standard manual. Are there any must have options on a 2009 Carrera S?

Here are the options on this car:

Pwr front bucket seats w/adjustable lumbar
Illuminated door entry guards w/model logo
    HomeLink system
    Illuminated visor vanity mirrors
    9-speaker sound system w/235-watts
    3-spoke leather-wrapped tilt/telescopic steering wheel
    Auxiliary pwr outlet
    Split-folding rear seats
    PCM -inc: 6.5 screen w/touch controls AM/FM stereo w/CD/DVD/MP3 player on-board computer
Automatic climate control -inc: active carbon filter
    Dual front cup holders
    2 + 2 Seating
Pwr windows -inc: auto up/down anti-jamming feature
    Keyless entry
    Cruise control
    Anti-theft system
    Alarm system
    Rear window defogger
    Leather-wrapped gear lever & handbrake
    6-speed manual transmission
Pwr 4-wheel vented disc brakes -inc: 4-piston front/rear monobloc brake calipers
Vario-Cam Plus variable valve timing system
Stainless steel exhaust system -inc: 2-dual brushed steel tail pipes
    Pwr rack & pinion steering
    Double inertia flywheel
3.8L horizontally-opposed DOHC DI 24V 6-cyl engine -inc: dry sump lubrication oil cooler
Porsche active suspension management system (PASM) -inc: 10mm ride height reduction
    Front/rear stabilizer bars

    Are there any glaring omissions?

    Thanks

Sunroof -- desirable on a road car.

BTW, a lot of those "options" look standard. Rear defogger is required by law on all cars, and I don't think you can buy a regular 997 without power windows, vario-cam, etc.

    Thanks for the reply.

The list of features was provided to me by the dealer so I believe your assessment that many of these are standard on a Carrera S. It does have a sun roof which is a big plus along with a full leather interior.

Bullfighter is right, outside of the entry guards, that is all standard. Ask the dealer for the option codes on the car, if it is a Porsche dealer they should know. I have owned 39 Porsche's have what was once a 997S cab now, and I'm sure you will get many opinions on options, and you might try Rennlist, that is a good board to learn about the cars.

Sport chrono is huge for fun to drive factor. I own a 2005 997S

There are a lot of things in that list that are standard.

But yes, the 911S is a great car. In my opinion, it is the most "true" new 911. It is the best of the true 911. Great car.

And youre right about manual. I love Porsche and their engineering, but PDK is just not thrilling enough for me, when you drive it, it almost feels like a regular automatic that just shifts faster, it's not raw enough to replace the manual or compete with Ferraris F1 when it comes to driving pleasure.

The full leather and the sports chrono are the only options you need to have but other popular items will help resale value.
