Has anyone heard anything about allocation "loosening up" for the 2009 model year. I own a 2005 F430 F1 and have been recently looking into a new car. Two dealers in the NYC area have told me no problem with a 2009 build, where as just 6 or 8 months ago, they told me "no way". Does anyone know if anything has changed, besides people leaving the 430 allocation list to be on the California list?

I heard this from more than one dealer. The rumor has Ferrari "dumping" some extra 430's, including the 430 Scuderia, into the US market. The dealers will get extra allocation but it's possible that the customer will not get to spec the car. The dealer will have to take whatever color and equipment the factory gives them. This scenario happened before when the 360 was being discontinued and the 430 was coming in. Remember 2009 is the last year for the 430. Ferrari is probably sitting around with extra parts that they need to get rid of. Also, the euro is declining and Europe's economy is slowing down. The US is a good place to get rid of some inventory.

With a comment like this in a hot market you could lose that car. Deals like this are better kept private with your dealer.

And with your statement, you, sir, contribute to the reinforcement of the formidable chokehold Ferrari and its dealers have had on the adoring US buyer. On the contrary, we should applaude statements like Ferrarirafi's when they reveal a little of what can happen in real life.

You may have point. My post was a free advise and you nor anyone else would like to lose a car at msrp like I was going to. You see, I posted something very positive about the dealer and about my deal, and did recomend them other f-catters. Well some VIP customers called them up and... I almost lost my car.

I think the dealer situation is ridiculous... and you guys aren't helping much... it is unreal how they have their way around with US buyers, and apply these mark-ups, and this "attitude"... other places it's first come first serve, and MSRP... having said that, I think it is Ferrari Spa who should be doing something about this... how can they allow these abuses by US dealers!!! I would never buy a Ferrari above MSRP, when I know the rest of the world paid MSRP... sorry guys, but you shouldn't put up with this, even if it is a "supply-demand" situation... I would simply tell the dealer to go and shove it... I would swtich to a Lambo in a heartbeat...

why if you already have a 430, would you need an 09' 430?

also it is a huge waste of money to not buy used!

Ther very best deal is to buy a new 430 at MSRP. Think about it.

guys I feel lucky blessed and fortunate to have been the one to get this allocated coupe. If the risk of losing my car to some other guy willing to pay more than the 20k premium I was willing to pay then well; life stinks. I have called the dealership many times hoping to have this privilige and frankly I feel glad bragging that my 10k deposit was recieved (the cost was a smidge over 235k). If for whatever reason the vehicle I ordered does not arrive or some else takes it then I guess testa you are right (I enjoy year opinion testa and have read many of your threads with delight) I should keep my mouth shut. I just am thrilled and want to get the feeling many of you have starting your cars up on an early sat morning.

From what I have read the premium I am paying is above "the fair market value" for these cars, and I am not exactly proud to say there was very little negotiation in my purchase. It was more like " well we'll charge you 20k over" and in a split second of sheer exitement I responded where do you want me to wire the funds (their response was don't worry we'll take a credit card, and just as fast I said do you take american express :))

Maybe I am lucky to have been at the right place at the right time, and maybe the stars aligned for me. The reality is when I get my beauty I will post pics comments and thoughts because I am intend on driving the heck out of it, WITH A BIG SMILE.

Gentlemen, I am paying msrp for my car, not 20k over and it is spec'd the way I want it. For those that are curious, I am obtaining a new one, because it will be ordered with the options I choose, not with the original owner wanted. And to the last point, - yes Lambos are nice, but the new Gallardo is not out yet, and last (I know I will take some heat for this), Its not a Ferrari!!.

why not wait and get in line for the new one to come out? you already have a 430 and jumping into a new one might not feel so "new"

There were 6000 Ferrari's produced for total distribution worldwidein 2007, that means all F1s, coupes, convertibles, 6 speeds, 612's, 599's and the scud. The average dealer in North America gets 10-12 F1 coupes a year. Yeah I think there is still somewhat of a supply vs demand situation.

Need = Ferrari - Need should never come into play when you are talking about these cars, I want a new car, spec'd my way, not owned by someone before me that got it spec'd their way.

New car does not come out until 2010, probably wouldn't be able to get one right as they come out, however if I chose to go that route I can always sell this one and get the new one. I would rather wait a couple of model years for the new one and let Ferrari Spa work the bugs out first. Also, the price point is probably going to be much higher, given where they are placing the California's price tag.
