hey guys here is my dilemma.

I have my car in the garage, always on a battery tender.
I see no light on the battery tender, and car is dead.

I buy a new battery, install it, and the car fires up right away.
Put the battery tender on the car once again. This time the tender has a orange light on it.

2 weeks goes by, this morning i walk pass the car and the tender has no light and the car is dead again.

What can be the culprit. Alternator?

    Thanks for any feedback.

I will start it tonight with my Battery starter, and run it for 20 minutes. But something is draining this battery.

When you say "Battery tender" is it the one that comes with the car? If yes, those are no good. Please go and get a "REAL" battery tender - CTEK or BatteryTender Plus. The OEM one sucks!! I had the same issue with the factory one...changed to Battery Tender Plus..no issues after.

If the battery is flat you need to connect up a standard 4 amp charger direct onto the cables behind the seat. The ferrari charger will not charge up a battery from flat, but if you put some charge into it, you will find the ferrari one will start working ok.
I would avoid battery starters to get it started in case you spike the electronics.

Yes thats what i mean, i have a 4AMP charger that will attach. Its just a brand new battery. I find this very strange that its drained. Literally its 2 weeks old.

Note - Battery Tender Plus will not charge a dead battery. But will keep/maintaining and charge once the battery reaches normal operation level.

    Save A Battery 9999 on Amazon.com

My factory charger went bad a couple months ago and I replaced it with the 9999.
Made the under dash male insert from the parts listed by wkumari in post # 12 in the link below. Everything functioning as it should.

As simmadwn suggests, the tender/maintainer type charger wont generally pull battery up from dead, you need to use s proper higher amp charger.

Picking up though on an earlier comment simmadwn said above. I can only speak for what I've seen but pretty sure the tender/maintainer that Ferrari supply looks to be effectively a rebadged CTEK? So if we are saying the supplied charger is "no good", then doesn't that follow that some CTEK are also "no good"?

OP probably has a Zivan charger. I have one and it occasionally stop charging...or is too weak to keep the battery at full. Mine is still operational but I decided to upgrade to saveabattery. FYI, the CTEK is also known to fail as well.

Later cars had the CTEK supplied as standard, badged up in OEM livery. IMHO CTEK are some of the best units out there - good warranties and plenty of fail safe circuitry. Obviously nothing is impregnable , but mine is 6 years and is used daily.

I tend to hook my unit up to a wall mounted timeswitch during extended lay up periods - giving it 4-5 hrs a day keeps the battery well conditioned : though I'm told 24/7 would be fine too......

lol...the factory supplied one that came with my car - 2007 F430 is definitely not upto spec with the current CTEK's. May be my OEM charger is broke?? It does light up and stuff when I connected the new battery..but just doesn't hold/charge or maintain voltage :(
