Now you see it, now you don't. The unpopular 'winner takes all' scoring system has now been erased from the 2010 sporting regulations. After the recent World Motor Sport Council meeting, the FIA published the rules for next year, and Article 6.1 of the sporting regulations said the drivers title 'will be awarded to the driver who has been classified first in the greatest number of races'. The governing body tried to introduce Bernie Ecclestone's favoured system this year, but the late change was vetoed by the Formula One Teams' Association. It seems that the Article 6.1 inclusion of 30 April was simply a mistake. The article now explains that the drivers' title 'will be awarded to the driver who has scored the highest number of points'. K. Raikkonen - Ferrari F60 We have definitely made a step forward in performance terms on the car. You can feel a greater level of aerodynamic downforce and thats what we needed. Sure, its Friday and its always difficult to draw conclusions, but the feeling is that we have closed the gap to the top cars. Here, just as at the last race, the harder tyre is a bit difficult, while on the softer one, were reasonably good. Tomorrow morning, well work on qualifying, given that today we concentrated on race preparation. All in all, I am happy with how things went today. F. Massa - Ferrari F60 We have done a good job over the past weeks and the car has improved, but of course, the others havent been standing around with their hands in their pockets. As from tomorrow, we will see if we have managed to move up the order, because todays classification is difficult to interpret and I reckon it doesnt represent the true pecking order. We worked towards Sundays race. On my final run I had traffic and that cost me a bit of time, but what matters is the performance tomorrow. I will do my best to get through to the final part of qualifying and then aim for a good grid position.
See ya...and get rid of Kimi while you're at it. Stefano Domenicali has admitted he would consider his position as Ferrari Team Principal if he thought it would pull the Italian team out of its crisis. Despite a technical step forward in Barcelona, only Williams, Toro Rosso and Force India sit lower than the reigning constructors' champions in the 2009 standings, following more strategic and reliability issues at the weekend. F1 Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone mused in Barcelona that the team's new top management is the problem. "I think with (Jean) Todt gone, we've gone a little bit back to the way it was before Todt went there," said the Briton, always keen to jump on any particular bandwagon. And when asked about Felipe Massa running out of fuel at the end of the Spanish Grand Prix, Renault team boss Flavio Briatore told Spain's AS newspaper while laughing: "Fortunately I am not the head of Ferrari!" Massas woes allowed the struggling Alonso to inherit fifth position in the leading Renault. Quoted by the German broadcaster RTL, Domenicali commented: "I do not think I'm the problem. But if necessary, I would make room." E.A. © CAPSIS International Source: GMM
Alonso for Kimi, Webber for Massa .... although I think Massa is a damn good driver, just want an Aussie in a ferrari so I can stop splitting my loyalties
I think the driver with a huge potential is Vettel. Kimi has to go, "not even Kimi knows whats going on in Kimi's head" lol that's GOLD! 534
The issue is the F60 is just not fast enough, getting better though. I still believe they can and will turn it around. Don't lose the faith! Yeah, Kimi has to go, they fired Prost and Arnoux and "dustin holfman" lookalike forgot his name, a Italian dude? Still what about haonda, they must be BLEEDING to see its developed car spanking the field! 534
Did you see the in car footage from Massa's Q3 hot lap? He really had that thing by the scruff of its neck.
Well this is interesting. If these two are in, who's out? http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/090522110528.shtml
Practice for the N24 on now http://www.justin.tv/yaahman RR-8 Audi looks good. Alpina B6 does too. Great event, thats everything Bathurst should be. Watching the Ford GT dropping into the Karassell is just so sweet. They've done a top job of covering the entire green hell with cameras.
yeah...i thought they were limited to a smaller field. none of the others have applied yet though. maybe some won't! how exciting
Another new team David Richards' Banbury-based outfit is set to make its Formula One debut next year. The team, expected to link up technically with McLaren Mercedes, will initially enter the world championship as Prodrive, before becoming Aston Martin by 2012. It is believed Richards, formerly team boss at Benetton and BAR, committed to lodging his official paperwork by Friday's deadline after discussions with Bernie Ecclestone that lasted until late Wednesday night. It was on Wednesday that the FIA rules finally became clear (pending official confirmation), following a compromise deal amid the existing teams' standoff with the sport's ruling bodies. Next year, the budget cap will be 100m, with special concessions such as cheap components offered to small teams, before the figure shrinks to 45m in 2011. "The cars will be built at Banbury and have Aston Martin-badged customer engines obtained from a supplier," Richards confirmed to Autocar. Among the backers is Aston Martin's majority owner Investment Dar, a Kuwaiti shareholding company, and another Middle Eastern interest. Source: GMM © CAPSIS International
Felipe Massa has refused to blame Ferrari's competitive struggle on the decision to use KERS. The new energy re-use technology was the talk of the winter period, but so far a KERS-equipped car has failed to win a race. BMW Sauber, Renault and McLaren Mercedes also kicked off the season with respective systems fitted to their cars, but at present only the latter has used KERS consistently this year. BMW is working on an improved version to reintroduce later this season, while Renault quietly dropped KERS some races ago and has made no mention the technology ever since. It is suggested that, in contrast to race-winning cars like the Brawn Mercedes and Red Bull Renault, the Ferrari, BMW and McLaren were designed around the KERS concept and it was this decision that constrained their development progress. Moreover, Ferrari's unit has been particularly challenging in the reliability stakes. Massa however refuses to accept that KERS can therefore be attributed as a mistake for Maranello-based Ferrari, winner of the 2008 constructors' championship. "Just like McLaren, BMW and Renault, we wanted to use the new technical rules to the maximum benefit," the Ferrari driver told Germany's Die Welt. "It would have been embarrassing if the other manufacturers had used KERS successfully and we were at the back without it. So we had to go for the KERS option," added Massa. "At the moment we have the best car that has KERS. Unfortunately the Brawn is better without it," he said. E.A. © CAPSIS International Source: GMM Image Unavailable, Please Login

Amongst the flurry of Formula One projects vying for a place on the extended 2010 grid, one name stood out to recall former days when it appeared that Brabham Grand Prix had filed its entry papers. German businessman Franz Hilmer bought the assets of the former Super Aguri operation last year; in association with Formtech, he now intends to run the Brabham team next season under FIA President Max Mosley's budget cap plan. However, triple World Champion Jack Brabham and his family are insisting that they have nothing do to with Hilmer's plans. In fact, they intend to prevent him from using their famous surname. "Sir Jack Brabham and the Brabham family have expressed their surprise at the recent news reporting that an entry has been submitted for the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship by Formtech with the intention of operating as Brabham Grand Prix Limited," indicated a statement released on Thursday. "The family would like to make it clear that they are in no way involved with Brabham Grand Prix Limited and received no consultation regarding the company's plans to resurrect their historic name in Formula One," the statement continued. "The family is taking legal advice and will take necessary steps to protect their name, reputation and its goodwill," concluded the Brabham Enterprises Limited press release. The company is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Daniel BASTIEN © CAPSIS International
