High clouds, grey, and sun peeping through occasionally. I think we will be OK for weather this morning.

A bit more quiet than usual. Some may be on Vaca, others cleaning up yard messes from the storms, and still others concerned about the weather. Regardless of the turnout it was as fun as always. Jay was happy to point out my typing flaws on my new mobile device...Thanks Jay, I know I can count on you. The I managed to figure out how to take a picture but it was before Joe, Phil, Mike, Dave, Richard, and John arrived so the parking lot looks a little empty. Not bad quality for a "crackberry" even with an idiot at the controls. (shut up Jay)

Dave...Nice to meet your brother-in-law and the "better" half. She's very understanding, a real trooper, and (sorry bud) way more than half.

A few new faces include Tony in the 308, Peter in the Urraco. Both were special examples of pure italian driving perfection. I had never seen a Urraco before which made the visit more special to me. Thanks Pete. Dino stopped in with the (68?) Camaro RS. Really bring back memories of my mis-spent youth.

We were missing Joe M and Mike D. They are from the area most heavily damaged by the storm so we hope everything is OK.

Craig, another regular, was curiously missing as well. Last I knew he was stuck in the puppy retirement home assisting an inmate.
Jess was also missed. I'm guessing her employment responsibilities are keeping her real busy.

Maybe some day we will get more than a few seconds of sunshine.

Hey, sorry I missed you guys today. My parents were in town today and decided to treat the family to a nice brunch. My dad was ready for a ride in the Testarossa, but Black Horse picked it up on Friday for the major service. I ended up getting the 308 out late in the day, but long past everyones departure from Glastonbury. I'll see you guys next weekend. Sounds like a decent turnout today. Couple of great new additions to the meet from the pictures.

BTW... we were spared the worse of Friday's storm... just a few downed limbs in the yard, although did have to go out and buy a generator as the power was out close to 18 hours.

    Hi Guys,
Yup we are O.K. The wife and I were in Martha's Vineyard and my kids were at their grandmothers house in Upstate New York during the storm. We didn't get much damage at the house, mostly small trees and a lot of yard work. I will be at next weeks meet, glad to here everyone is O.K..

Yeah...looks like the job will be keeping me occupied on Sundays until further notice :(

As for the storm, I didn't have power for about 24 hours..I went for a walk around the neighborhood today and saw some of the area damage...worst was a huge oak that had fallen on a house...

But hopefully a good holiday weekend is ahead with some great driving weather:)

Everyone should be thinking about the ALMS race at Limerock on July 17 and 18. Prepurchasing tickets is a good idea and a money saver. There are a few remote outlets if your interested. ( http://tickets.limerock.com/default.asp left side half way down) I already have mine and am looking forward to attending Saturdays festivities. We should also start thinking about the way we intend to arrive. This is an opportunity to cruise the Northwestern CT wilderness. Some truely spectacular roads.

The following weekend is the FCA track event. Think about that also. It free and real cool.

I have no affiliation with Limerock but want to get the gatherers together for a great time.

Thanks for this post Lane. I talked to my wife about this and it looks like we may buy tickets for the weekend and take the kids camping there for the race. Might take two cars so I can have my 348 there as well.

The weather forecast for Sunday looks perfect. Would love to see a huge turnout, just to celebrate the sunshine reflected off some Captain Richards, if nothing else.

Happy 4th of July everyone! Hope to see you all tomorrow.

8am tomorrow at our usual spot, Lane?

check the ground strap? short of that...it's a known problem with these things sitting next to the headers. I rebuilt mine while it was out (and added a heat shield). There's a good alternator rebuild thread in the 348/355 section if that's it, cost me like $15 in parts.

I should be able to stop in for a short time tomorrow morn -

Well it finally happened to my baby.

I've been looking forward to this Sunday for ages. Its the first (dare I say) really nice day of the driving season here in Connecticut. The Saturday skys are cloudless and the heavens have that September Blue thats best described as a feeling rather than color. ALL the forcasters predict tommorrows going to be even better. I've spent my morning doing the spiffey. A fresh coat of the Captains best and the installation of the required fog Light shields is completed. I'm thinking about tackling that seat position issue but decide it just to nice. I fire up the 348 and roll on down the drive.

The engine is warm and the tranny temp is rising steadily. We roll together towards the downtown area to turn a few heads. The streets are alive with wannabee's staring with the peripherals. They would never be caught actually looking but I see em anyway. My baby is brilliantly smiling back with those magnificent Nero panels and strakes. we round the bend and head back towards the stable. It was just a short ride anyway. Then....The light...The friggen light... Is it easy or a real problem? Cars running fine, everything seems normal, except that friggen light.

I limp back home and open the corral. Do some initial troubleshooting and notice a issue with voltage. Battery at 12 volts with engine at rest and 12 volts engine running. Thats not right. Every wire is inspected and found to be soundly attached. No unusual smells, sounds or sights except that friggen light. I immediately hit up my sources for info. It doth appear my alternator is no longer alternating.

My baby is gonna miss our special day.

What a glorious day. The forcasters were right. And me without my car....

A good turn out of guys with a few new faces. I counted 17 cars, every one of them beautiful. Most colors were represented except Green. Come on Ed...your missing it all. Phone shots posted for evidence but if anyone has better...

Most importantly Dean...If you wash them in COLD water, they don't shrink

    Hi Saint,

Thanks for thinking of me. Been busy playing polo - 2, 3 or 4 times a week. It's a burden, but somebody has to do it.

Today we had three beginner players scheduled for a introduction to polo clinic and Mrs. AVFPolo would be well within her rights to give me a good tongue lashing if I attempted to skip out.

The green car has been back in my garage for about two weeks now. Drove it once for a total of 10 miles since the engine out service. She is currently running great! I say currently because she is afterall an Fcar. Late last night I read your post about your voltage deficiency condition. I was THIS close to sending you a pm to see if you might consider coming to my house to pick up my car and run her down to G'bury for me. However, I figured that it would be a lot of driving for you and I didn't want to impose. Also, didn't think that you'd want to be seen driving a lowly 355. And everyone would certainly see you motoring with the top down on this perfect day!!!

    - Ed -

Saint - It was fine when it came out of the washer. The dryer is what caused the problem. You should only use the damp dry cycle. As for AVFPolo looking to exercise his lowly 355, I'd be glad to help out. My ego is no bigger than my Ducati so I won't be embarrassed.
