The 2009 schedule has just been released and what a great one it will be! New is a Night race in Algarve, Portugal.

This racing is definitely worth it with tons of action - when they are 3 abreast down the front straight at Barcelona and no one lifting into the first turn, well, that's some kind of racing. Classic circuits, go anywhere, sit anywhere, wander the paddock, driver autograph sessions with some of the absolute best drivers in the world. Technology abounds at these events with some of the most beautiful cars you've seen - especially the Lola/Aston Martin P1 and the Epsilon-Eskuadi (Spanish P1 - debuted this year). The cost to go to these races is very minimal (Silverstone was 20GBP for the weekend). Races are 1000Km and are on Sunday.

    Here's the schedule:

    The 2009 calendar is ready!
Five races, on circuits which are the “classicals” of the series: Barcelone (3-4-5 Apr), Spa-Francorchamps (8-9-10 May), le Nürburgring (28-29-30 Aug), Silverstone (11-12-13 Sept), but also a novelty this year with the 1000 Km of Algarve, in Portugal (first international race on this new circuit - race will start late afternoon and go into the night - 31 July 1-2 Aug). This round will moreover be a night race! Another first is the test at Paul Ricard in March will be open to the public this year - that's great news. Apparently the Barcelona race was an outstanding success this year that it's going to be the starting race of the 09 season.

    Fantastic!!!

Looks like we can expect strong fields in GT-2 and the prototypes again.
It's easily the best racing on both sides of the pond. ALM should have 16 GT-2 and 8 P-2 cars minimum for each round. With 7 tyre manufacturers between the two series, this racing has no trouble keeping manufacturers involved!
Sick of processional spec racing ? Try Sportscars! It's all action from flag to flag.
