Hello all! I was wondering if the 2010 California is an engine out service? I am looking to purchase one, but wonder what the cost of servicing it will look like. Thanks! Steven
Hi...i have a 2011 Cali. I would guestimate that all in - gas, insurance, warranty, tires, service, etc. - you're looking at 10 K / yr...T
The newer Ferrari's have all gone away from engine out type servicing. Timing chains have replaced timing belts, and last the life of the engine. Lifters are now hydraulic, so no valve adjustment is needed. Services basically consist of fluid (engine oil, brake fluid, coolant, transmission lubricants) and filter changes (oil, air, cabin filter). There are a couple of serpentine drive belts for the A/C, alternator and P/S pump that need to be replaced every few years. Spark plugs have a fairly long replacement interval, and are the hardest part of servicing a California. So the cost of owning/servicing a Ferrari has gone way down from the late '80s/early '90s (Testarossa/348/355) where the engine needs to come out every 3 years/30k for timing belt replacement.
Indeed, Cali 30 with the HS package is probably the sweet spot in dollars to performance. Think those came out in 2013...T
