All ten teams included but five are provisional
    Friday 12th June 2009 - PlanetF1.com

All ten of the existing Formula One teams have been included in next year's line-up but that doesn't mean the war is over.

Despite submitting conditional entries as part of the FOTA application, Ferrari, Red Bull and Toro Rosso have all been put down for next year's Championship as the FIA believe they have a binding contract with the three teams to race until 2012.

Ferrari, though, have already made it clear that they won't race unless motorsport's governing body accept FOTA conditions, which including running next year's Championship under this year's regulations.

So at least one battle remains there.

Meanwhile, McLaren, BMW, Renault, Toyota and Brawn GP have also been included in next year's entry list, however, the FIA have urged them to drop their conditional entry before next week Friday.

"These five teams have submitted conditional entries," said the FIA statement. "The FIA has invited them to lift those conditions following further discussions to be concluded not later than close of business on Friday 19 June."

Those 'discussions' relate to FOTA's conditions for entry into next year's Championship, which Ferrari, Red Bull and Toro Rosso are also standing by.

Should those five outfits - and Ferrari if they take the FIA to court over being forced to race next season - fail to reach an agreement with FIA President Max Mosley over the regulations they will be replaced with new teams.

But in the mean time the three new outfits chosen to complete the 13-team grid are Manor Grand Prix, Campos Grand Prix and Team US F1.

Very interesting indeed. Maybe the iron fist smashed F1 apart and like Obama and the economy, they just aren't aware of reality yet.

Ferrari: We won't race unless conditions are met
    Friday 12th June 2009 - PlanetF1.com

Despite being included in next year's line-up, Ferrari have again insisted they will not race unless FOTA's conditions are met.

Earlier this week Ferrari told the FIA not to sign them up unless they are willing to abide by the conditions laid out by the Formula one Teams' Association in their May 29th block entry.

Those conditions include the scrapping of Max Mosley's proposed 2010 regulations and the budget cap as well as the signing of a new Concorde.

However, motorsport's governing body claim they have a contract with Ferrari, forcing them to compete in Formula One until 2012. And as such, Ferrari's name appeared as an unconditional entry when the FIA published the 2010 entry list earlier today.

The Italian marque, though, are sticking by their threat not to race, adding that Mosley's planned rules 'violate' any previous contract Ferrari had with the FIA.

"Ferrari submitted on 29 May 2009 an entry to the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship which is subject to certain conditions," said the statement. "As of today, these conditions have not been met.

"Notwithstanding this and despite Ferrari's previous written notice to the FIA not to do so, the FIA has included Ferrari as an unconditional participant in next year's Formula One World Championship.

"For the avoidance of any doubt, Ferrari reaffirms that it shall not take part in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship under the regulations adopted by the FIA in violation of Ferrari's rights under a written agreement with the FIA."

Ferrari are not alone in their stand as Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso, who were also unconditionally entered as a result of their 2012 deal with Bernie Ecclestone, insist they too will not race.

"Following the FIA's publication of the entry list for the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship, Red Bull Racing would like to make it clear that its entry was submitted as a conditional entry, consistent with those of all other FOTA members," said Red Bull's statement.

"Red Bull Racing remains committed to FOTA and fully endorses all its principles."

Toro Rosso released a similar statement.

World championship leaders Brawn, plus former champions McLaren and Renault are among the teams that have been told to lift the conditions on their entry to the 2010 championship by June 19 or risk being left off the grid.

After days of intense speculation about which teams would comprise the make up for the 2010 championship, the FIA announced that of the current teams only Ferrari, Red Bull Racing, Scuderia Toro Rosso, Williams and Force India have been granted entries.

It means that Brawn, McLaren, Renault, BMW Sauber and Toyota have all been sidelined for now - pointing towards further frantic efforts to try and find a solution to the row over cost cuts.

In a statement issued by the FIA, it said: "These five teams have submitted conditional entries. The FIA has invited them to lift those conditions following further discussions to be concluded not later than close of business on Friday 19 June."

The inclusion of Ferrari and the two Red Bull teams is also a bone of contention, with the outfits likely to claim that they could only be entered if the conditions attached to their applications to race were met.

The FIA, however, believes the teams committed several years ago when they signed deals with the governing body and Formula One Management tying themselves to the sport.

The list also confirmed that three new teams had been granted an entry - Campos Grand Prix, Manor Grand Prix and Team US F1.

Should any of the five current teams not make the cut, then the FIA is evaluating further entries being added.

AUTOSPORT understands there are three or four other teams who are close to being granted entries, and dialogue is still ongoing.

Campos Grand Prix is being run by former grand prix driver Adrian Campos, with Team US F1 headed by Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor.

AUTOSPORT understands the new Manor Grand Prix team is headed by F3 team boss John Booth and former grand prix team owner Nick Wirth.

    * These five teams have submitted conditional entries. The FIA has invited them to lift those conditions following further discussions to be concluded not later than close of business on Friday 19 June.

The maximum number of cars permitted to enter the 2010 Championship has been increased to 26, two being entered by each competitor. Pending completion of the discussions referred to above, further due diligence is currently taking place on other potential entries.

I'm getting the feeling that the fans (at least those who follow the FIA/FOM/FOTA wars) are getting more than a little fed up.
Its bad enough that the sport is put in peril by a bunch of self-serving billionaires but when they all attempt to try their cases in the public press while keeping us in the dark as to the substance of the negotiations I really resent it.
Good will is the basis of any successful enterprise and these twits are Pi%%ing it away big time.

If this all end nastily, then maybe Danica will be WDC of FIA's F3 version of F1 Championship in 2010.

    Sad...and stupid situation.

Very well put. Not to bring this tired topic up again, but I think that this is where F1 could learn something from NASCAR; NASCAR knows their customer base as well as any business in the world and every decision that they make is done within that framework.

I feel bad for Windsor and the USF1 outfit. They finally get an F1 team together and and when they actually get to go racing it's likely to be in a joke of a series that means very little with a bunch of other no-name teams racing in front of empty stands. While everyone is else is watching the real F1 teams race in another series.

Great. So nothing has been decided.

The FIA is informing the world that there will be racing in 2010 with this list of teams and saying the world, "don't bother listening to the teams...they don't know what they're talking about."

All the while, the teams are saying to the world, "don't listen to the FIA they don't know what they're talking about. If they (FIA) don't agree to our terms then we're not racing next year...period!"

    I'm a fan of F1...not soap operas.

Hmm - "We" all know about the supposed contract between the FIA and Ferrari, but this is the first I've heard of another such contract being in place with RBR and STR - Or did I miss it? Anyone know what Mr Red Bull's status is?

In any event, the condescending nature of the FIA in unilaterally removing the "conditional" status of these entries is beyond belief IMHO. WTF?

    Cheers,
    Ian

If only the officials such as Max could be removed for "bringing the sport into disrepute" like the teams can be, then we'd have something.

This is just ridiculous, so instead of (providing everything works out) seeing Ferrari compete against BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Aston Martin, etc. we will have Campos vs. Manor vs. Force India......wow, can't wait, just think about how much free time I'll have on Sundays!

Ermm so Prodrive Dave Richards not Porno's biggest fan, and well worthy of a slot, doesnt get one.

Yet low and behold PORNO'S old business partner Nick Wirth with ManorGP, he is well known to Max as they co-founded Simtek Research in the late 1980's get's a slot.

And it's kind of strange that all the new teams are running Cosworth.

Hell why dont they tell Mosley to stick it all together really, he is the enemy of F1 within.

Porno has failed to find a way to convince the competitors that it offers them what they want: the only teams to sign up for 2010 have done so because they are desperate to survive or are unable to get into the game by any other route.

Not yet. Hard to understand, I would think Prodrive was the most substantial of all the new entrants.
