The Dutch definitely deserved to be in the Final, IMHO, but I must say that de Jong was fortunate that he was allowed to play on after his Kung-Fu kick to Alonso's chest. Accidental or not, that should have been a red card. Holland could have been rightly down to 10 or even 9 men by half time, and then everyone would have complained that the referee was far too stern. Just an opinion. Too bad it went down this way, really, because I thought the Dutch had enough talent and speed to win it.
Finals are seldom the best games but same happens in other sports. I've seen pretty lousy super bowls too.
Sadly the dutch didn't not play the football they displayed in other games. For some reason the coach decded to have the team back in their field most of the game letting Spain take the initiative and expecting to counter atack. Robben's miss was unbelievable. Too many fouls and kicks especially from the dutch. Both De Jong and Puyol should have been red carded. In the end Spain deserved the win. Congrats
Holland is the north-west of the Netherlands, which was the region of the golden age! Holland is the popular (tourist) name of the Netherlands.. Dutch comes from deutsch, how that happened no one knows.. The netherlands is the name of the country. Today the players got welcomed home in a similar way as the spanish team.. 1mln people in Amsterdam in orange.. In my opinion.... to much credit. But out here everything is possible to have a national "party" The queens birthday is celebrated on the 30th of April, another "orange" party! The coach didn't look that happy..... Hans

Wasn't he the guy who played his first round of golf in about 5 under?...... Karma's a ***** though! - They actually looked OK against Brazil, so I guess "they" figured they'd show the next game live - And got their asses kicked! IIRC, there were reports of their fans actually being hired from China - I guess if you get outta there, you don't rush back..... Like the "two of 'em went straight to Japan" comment - Screw that nonsense! Cheers, Ian
