From Sept 25th's article here: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/supercars/preview-mercedes%e2%80%99-300-sl-gullwing-successor/ And some artist renderings, not actual, but still... looking not too bad. Although those lights appear to be from a Porsche. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yea, look at the doors in the side view. The side view mirrors are attached to them. Then in the one below they're still on the car. Shouldnt they be up in the air with the doors? Still, artist screw up or not I like the look.
Wow, good eye on that. I like the design. I just hope that Mercedes makes this car lighter than the SLR, and offer a manual transmission, just like the original Gullwings.
When the SLR came out people complained that MB and Mc had set the 'way back machine' to the Fifties and not the Sixties. The SLR was an over weight track car that tried to be a grand touring car. Ferrari ate it for lunch... Weird brakes that acted like an 'on' or 'off' switch and evil handling abilities that were surely not helped by shorting the car engineering with the steering rack from the "A" class series model. This instead of spending some money and engineering the SL rack for the application. A slush box transmission and having to wait ages for the convertible version (which was what the first showcar had promised) to arrive with already consigns this car to the past. Now people are excited about going back to the fifties again? They seem to be slow learners. The new AMG motor is nice but get a 'new body' to put it in. Don't try to revisit the past again with yesterday's news. The MB buyers are confused enough already. CH
The picture with the doors open looks like a startled bunny rabbit. Smacks of cashing in on past glories to me
+1 I saw a small pic of it in Road and Track earlier this year. That rendering was a lot better looking. This one looks to much like a porsche front end with a Mercedes emblem for my taste. Found the pic...it was another rendering. This one looks more fierce looking, than cute with the other rendering. Image Unavailable, Please Login
+ a million, jillion, ba-zillion. Love it! Superfluous, yet so very necessary. This is the reason we buy cars like this. Build it, MB, and put a proper engine in it.
