Apparently the Saints are consistent enough to post the highest turnover ratio and scoring offense in the NFL. One key aspect of the Saints vs. MN game is that MN had the penultimate pass rush in the league and a mid-level running game on the other side. Both are lacking with the Colts.

You know John, I think if the Saints can win the turnover battle and get points off those turnovers and keep the Colts from scoring while playing good offense, I think they could win this thing :) :) :)

John, you know better. A team can average the best numbers in the league and still not be consistent. Apples and oranges.

But that is just it, for the most part they have been consistent in terms of putting up points by the close of the 4th quarter.

Also not a small feat is the fact that Brees' passing completion percentage this year was the highest in NFL history!

    My sentiments as well.

AND I'm sure getting SICK of all the MAN-LOVE for Peyton Manning - NOW I'm hearing and reading stories of him being 'the best QB - EVER'. Makes me sick. He might be, but he has to beat Joe Montana's SB record, and so far he's behind Brady, Elway and Ben, for starters.
Don't get me wrong - he is GREAT - he can turn around about a dozen franchises just by himself, but he's not in the 'greatest ever' category just yet. He's tied with his little brother, too.

Too much pressure for the Saints to perform perfectly and they barely beat the Vikes with 5 turnovers.

Colts will win and Peyton will make sure of that.

Don't get me wrong. I believe that the Saints are a fantastic team and that they've been consistent for most of the season. Would you agree that Indy has been more consistent, though?

In my opinion, the Saints team that dismantled the Cardinals would beat Indy. Lesser versions of that team will probably not win.

The Saints with a 2 week vacation to get ready will be a tough task to bet against. They had 2 weeks to prepare for the Giants and smoked them (at the time we didn't know the Giants sucked), and they had 2 weeks to prepare for AZ and smoked them.

And make no mistake about it - Freeney not playing, or not playing at 100% - makes it hard for me to be AGAINST the Saints.

I wouldn't feel this way if Indy had ANY kind of a running game.

That is why if Manning has to throw 50+ times there is a good chance of a pick. Also, one key for the Saints will be to try and establish some semblance of a run. If they are able to do so it will make it extremely difficult to stop the Saint's bread and butter; the play action.

I have no bone in the fight.

With that, I want the Saints to display a nice banner.

The Saints should expect Manning, to make effective 2nd half adjustments.

The D Freeney ankle situation has this game really shaken up. Not often a DE can change an offense's game plan the way he can. If he plays, the Saints double team and leave a back to protect Drew. That take away all kinds of offensive targets and opens additional rushing lanes for the Colts. If he does not play, Brees will have lots of time to let the field develop.

I really want to see a Saints win. The head coaching will go a long ways to deciding this game. I really like Sean Payton but Peyton Manning (yes he is actually the head coach too) will be the deciding factor. He is going to have to play perfect football because the Saints D is very opportunitistic. There is going to be a ton of scoring and the team with the fewest mistakes will win. Saints 42 Indy 38 ;)

I'd feel a bit better if Peyton was more mobile, but he's not, he's a statue, he can't throw when on the run, best-case scenario for him is run to his right-stop-plant-throw, and that's not being mobile. Brees, Favre, Romo, McNabb he is not. Even Eli is more mobile.

But, he makes up for it with intelligence.

Considering how well you did at prognosticating the play-offs, you keep right on pulling for the Saints. That will guarantee a win for the Colts.

As to whether Freeney plays or not. Since 2002, Freeney has lead the NFL with 36 forced fumbles. You know who is second? Mathis with 35. Colts shift Mathis right and fill-in with Brock, who happens to be the 3rd best pass rusher on the Colts. Also toss Brackett into the mix. Sorry, but with those players filling in for Freeney, the Colts are not in any serious trouble, nor will the Saints garner any additional advantage.

As to the comments about Manning not scrambling. He is one of the quickest to release the ball. If you aren't hanging onto the ball, who cares if you can scramble or not. The intent of the game is to advance the ball down the field to the goalline, not run around with it behind the line of scrimmage. If the line does it's job of protecting the pocket for the QB, scrambling is a moot topic as it is in this case.

I'm really surprised you guys aren't off talking about the new head of IRL coming from the Professional Bull Riders or that Danica is going to be in an upcoming CSI: NY episode...:)

manning may be quick in his release, but the only problem is that the saints quaterback is quicker, and just as accurate.

the good news for both qb's is that they're both in for raises this offseason, espn reported that both peyton and brees are going to get new contracts this offseason, and with next season being played without a salary cap, who knows how high they'll be. and it's also sounding like dwight freeney may give playing a shot, but it's just a matter of how effective he'll be in the game. pointless to have him in there if he can't do anything.

Thanks, *******. You are missing the entire points of conversation, but that's OK.

The NFL is a very different game today, nobody said anything about 'scramble', I said he isn't 'mobile'.
There is a difference between a 'scrambling' QB and one that can easily roll right or left: Brees rolls, Romo rolls, McNabb rolls, Peyton doesn't so much. Am I saying Peyton is a bad QB because he isn't as mobile? Hell no, he is a GREAT QB.
But you have to take into account everything else - NO killed two great teams with great QB's, Indy has not played a team like them all year.
You also missed the part where I said he makes up for it with intelligence.
The caveat is I would not be surprised either way - Peyton may have one helluva game, maybe Brees will - they both probably will.
And as far as Freeney and Mathis combining for a ton of sacks, how did Mathis do when Freeney missed half or most of a season a couple years ago? Maybe missing Freeney is overblown - maybe the guy replacing him will play lights-out, we don't know, all we know is 'the guy replacing Freeney is no Freeney', so if that is the case, they can double on Mathis.
How many times did MN's awesome defensive lineman sack Brees? Hmmm?? Are we to believe Indy's line is better than Minnesota's?

As you said, since I am picking NO, that guarantees an Indy victory.
NOTHING would surprise me, not a game decided by a last second FG, and not a 28 point blowout either way.

What are the odds on a 10-7 final score? Wouldn't that suck.

Mobile...Scramble...pOtaTOE...pATAtoe...Now we are mincing words? You started it, I just had to add to it and I'm the *******? OK, so you are reduced to "****" calling at the first time someone disagrees with you, whatever. Maybe you and I should stick to discussing racing...

Point is Mathis, Brock, Brackett & the rest of the Colts defense rock. If Freeney is out, he is replaced by Mathis who is on par with Freeney. Mathis will be replaced by Brock who is next in line with Mathis & Freeney. Colts defense has more than proven they fill-in for one another. Need proof?

How come you aren't speaking about the Colts missing Sanders??? There was so much armchair QB'ing about the Colts when Sanders went out due to injury. The Colts defense has been seriously coming into its own this season. Pretty surprising the way they have shuffled positions and responsibilities to fill what needs to be done. Got to give them that.

Heck, look to the people on the offense that have made a great team impact this season...Collie and Garcon.

Now if you want me to agree with some b-tching about the running game, be here with me live as I scream at Addai to learn to run north-south vs east-west. Ugh...drives me nuts how many yards he runs sideways that mean zilch.

    IT COULD REALLY HAPPEN Y'ALL

After they were dead, Boudreaux and Thibodeaux discovered themselves in hell. They looked around awhile, then went right to work shoveling brimstone. The devil sauntered up and said, "How you like it here, my little friends? It's hard work and it's hot, yeah?"

The Cajuns just smiled and answered, "It not so bad. The work is steady. I got no problem with steady work. And it ain't so hot. You think this is hot? Man, I'm from south Louisiana, cher-it hot there, my fren! This ain't nothing." They just laughed and went back to work singing and having a high old time.

Satan, being a former Yankee, did not like Cajuns. He said to himself, "I'll get them. So they don't mind the hot, huh?" Satan waved a hand and the whole place was suddenly ice and snow, solid. And he said, "That'll fix those fools!"

When he went back to check on Boudreaux and Thibodeaux, he found them jumping up and yelling and laughing and clapping and dancing. So Satan said, "Man, what's wrong with you two?!" The best friends smiled big and Boudreaux replied, "The Saints done won the Super Bowl!"

Manning will win the game for the Colts. If you guys don't see him play often, I am a Titans fan so unfortunately we get to see him at least twice a year. The guy is freaking silly. Makes me ill because he can beat you with his brain, the rest of the body just comes along for the ride.

The Saints should make it a good game, but in the end I say Indy by 5 pts.
