New 458 owner here and I'll add my $0.02. My 458 is a 2014 Spyder that came with no-nav, no-ipod (its a Becker BE6134/US model) I came across this thread and I can attest to the following - I wasn't able to see where the 4 bolts were to go via the HVAC to get behind the panel, seems like my 2014 build is a little different to the earlier cars. I had a wobbly battery tender connector that needed glueing so I went in through the glovebox so I could remove the end trim, but also didn't remove like other posts as its bolted from behind not just a pull-off. - I have the technical manual, another option for folks is removal of the front of the HVAC controls, it would be tight though. I didn't try this as I didn't want the pry tools to mess up the coating on the plastic - I was able to find the iPod connector on the cross bar (used a wifi endoscope) exactly where folks said it would be. Connecting it from the glovebox was fiddly but I was successful. I tested it via the following mechanisms - Direct connection via the 30 pin connector to a 4th generation iPad (gps/wwan) running iOS 9.x. The native Apple iTune apps works correctly like an iPod. Using any 3rd party app such as Spotify is hit/miss with respect to album/song info. Sometimes it worked initially but usually reverted to No Info. This essentially seems to set the stage for any non-Apple/MFI interaction as already indicated in the various Invery/Bovee discussions. - Using an Apple OEM 30-pin to lightning adapter to a iPhone 12 Max Pro/latest iOS. Same as above but as iOS is newer version I used the Apple Music app. Using Apple's app get the correct title/music info, on Spotify it flashes the correct info initially and then quickly displays No Info. - I have a Invery BT adapter on order/as well as a lightning extension cable. My expectation is that using BT I'll see the same behavior above and reported in this thread i.e. you'll only get the correct track info using Apples native apps but I'll report back. While I'm at it, I also imported music to the HDD. I initially tried a 64GB Samsung USB flash drive. I couldn't get it to be detected. I double checked the formatting as FAT32, made sure no other files in the root filesystem, but nothing. I then copied the music to an old HDD based music player (An Arcos AV500 to a Music subfolder) and it was detected. So the Music didn't need to be in the root folder and it imported fine. Note I've seen other devices (Sony Projector) struggle with hidden files that get dropped in from MacOS by the Finder app, so be aware of this.
Where did you order the Invery Airdual from? I’m seeing that they’re currently unavailable on Amazon. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I went directly to the Invery website and double checked all of the different versions. For 458, it looks like Airdual-100 (need to make sure you don't get the cheaper version). I then cross referenced this back to Amazon and got this one. Will advise how it works when it arrives in a few days. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RMK926C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I can confirm the Invery adapter above works fairly well. It has 2 modes - general and iPod. Unless you have an Apple Music subscription, they advise to put in General mode. I've tested with both Apple Music and Spotify and it will display track/song info for both. From my observations, the way it works is on next track you'll see generic song/track number and then after a brief pause once it gets the data it updates the display with the right content. Sometimes I see that the content doesn't update (on initial connection). If you do a fwd/back it forces an update an then generally remains in sync. So in summary, works pretty well. I've used it a few times now and I've not seen any funky connection issues other than sometimes needing to do the fwd/back on initial connection
