    Hi Everyone...looking to make the leap from a 612 to a 458....as I prepare to possibly negotiate the price and look over the car, does anyone have any advice on what to look out for on the 2011 model....questions to ask? There might be a thread about this already, but could not seem to find it....any help is appreciated...fyi, buying from a dealer

    Nothing particular I can think of. Early 2010s were prone to transmission failures but I believe that this was sorted out by the time the 2011 model year.

    I would say that the usual questions in purchasing any recent Ferrari apply here: mileage, service records, evidence of excessive cosmetic wear on seats or vulnerable body parts, CARFAX.

    Is the car still under warranty? Can you buy an extended warranty?

    PPI is in order.

    Are yoiu buying from a Ferrari dealer or third party?

    Have the campaigns been done? If buying from a dealer most likely yes. Otherwise who knows?

    The 2011's and early 12's were the ones affected by the crankshaft recall. I'd check with FNA to be certain that the VIN is not one of the ones affected by that recall...or if it was, the engine has already been replaced.
