so much for no team orders, hey? apparently not team orders if Vettel is chasing Mark...if it's the other way around, team orders are fine.
It certainly was. Shame about the wheelnut on Vettel's car. I see Lewie did some good passes at the start of the race without having to 'muscle' his way in. Maybe he has finally woken up to himself. Team orders........ http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/07/11/3266029.htm

This weekend....... Practice 1 Fri 18:00 Practice 2 Fri 22:00 Practice 3 Sat 19:00 Qualifying Sat 22:00 Race Sun 22:00
Driver quotes for this weekend. Daniel Ricciardo, HRT 2010 Qualifying - n/a, 2010 Race - n/a Im satisfied with my first race finish in Silverstone at the wheel of the HRT Formula One team car. It was nice to finish and get the first race and experience under my belt. Ideally I would have liked to be closer to my rivals but thats the aim for this race. I have learnt that there is a lot more to the tyres and managing them than I thought. For now this is one of the main things I need to learn quickly about. My family was there and it was great to share the experience with them. It was a great feeling, so I am looking forward to doing it again this weekend. I am now looking at the second challenge of my career and to complete another good race. I know the track reasonably well even if my worst souvenir was in 2008 when I raced in F3 Euro Series for team SG Formula and I stalled on the start of the second race. But in the first race I finished 6th in the points. Recently, I drove there last month in World Series by Renault. I had a great race there with Robert Wickens in dramatically changing weather conditions. I didnt win the battle, but it was still a great race because I enjoy the track so much: The first sector is very technical and it has a nice flowing middle sector. But the weather changes a lot. Its a bit like Spa, but I'm hoping for the race we will have some nice weather for once. My goal this time is to finish the race and close the gap to my competitors and to Tonio." Mark Webber, Red Bull 2010 Qualifying - 4th, 2010 Race - 6th I love racing at the Nurburgring and of course its where I won my first race in 2009 so it already has a special place in my heart - Im looking forward to getting back there. Actually, I was only there a couple of weeks ago when I spent a few fun hours driving around the Nordschleife which has to be the worlds most amazing race track; Im also driving on it again this week for Renault, and taking some people around on passenger laps. The weather is often unpredictable in the Eifel mountains and if thats the case this weekend, it means you have to think on your feet and make some snappy decisions to benefit from changing and tricky track conditions. Of course the German and next weeks Hungarian Grand Prix are the closest Red Bull has to a home Grand Prix so the support is going to be pretty amazing for the team and for Sebastian in particular on his home soil, as well as all the other German drivers on the grid. The fans take F1 very seriously and are incredibly passionate about it - I hear those track campsites are pretty wild places to be over a Grand Prix weekend! We can always hear the music pumping out even from our team hotel! Lewis Hamilton, McLaren 2010 Qualifying - 6th, 2010 Race - 4th Both my previous races at this circuit have been eventful ones. The last time we were here, in 2009, it was such a mixed weekend. Wed been struggling with the car in the early races of the season and the guys back at the factory had been working around the clock to find a solution. From my very first lap, I could feel the difference in the car - it had been transformed. I qualified well, got a really good start thanks to the KERS Hybrid, and I was just about in front at the first corner when I was hit from behind and picked up a puncture, which damaged the car. In 2007 we had that crazy race with a huge downpour after just a few laps. Id pitted for rain tyres after getting a puncture, but even with those it was too slippery. I just hit some standing water and went straight off, along with several other drivers in the same place. Race control made the right call to stop the race, and the Nurburgring marshals did an amazing job, in hazardous conditions, to lift me out of the gravel with the crane. Since Id kept the engine running I was able to get back and take the restart. I was a lap down but I really enjoyed myself in the race, even though I finished just out of the points. The lesson to draw from all this experience is never to make predictions when you come to the Nurburgring. The current circuit may be less epic than the original 14-mile layout, and certainly a lot safer, but it can still bite you. And the weather can turn in a matter of moments - you can have all the seasons in one afternoon. When that happens, I know I can rely on the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team to react quickly and decisively. Another thing you can be sure of is that there will be a fantastic atmosphere. The local fans know how to party and they always enjoy themselves, whatever the weather! Michael Schumacher, Mercedes 2010 Qualifying - 11th, 2010 Race - 9th "With two home races in a row, we are fortunate to be given an extra boost as we head to the Nurburgring next week for the German Grand Prix, just two weeks after Silverstone. This season has been a difficult one for performance predictions so far; however I can predict one thing for sure: the extra boost we are receiving will be transformed into extra motivation. We saw some improvements over the Silverstone weekend with our new exhaust system, along with improvements to how we work with the tyres, so we go to the next race weekend with a good feeling added to our fighting spirit. We definitely want to show our home crowds our best level of performance possible. It will be the first time that I race through the corner which is named after me (Turns 8 and 9), and obviously I would like to believe that this is not only making me proud, but also even faster.

I reckon!! I wear a US14 size Nike shoe. I wear nearly double his shoe size but I am triple his weight.
Daniel had engine trouble. I should have had more faith. The weather conditions were very cold, with a maximum of 14 degrees Celsius, which caused several drivers problems generating enough heat in their Pirelli tyres, and as everyone refocused on optimising their cars around off-throttle blown diffusers once again the usual suspects were generally in their usual places Red Bull Mark Webber, 1m 32.217s, P2/1m 31.711s, P1 Sebastian Vettel, 1m 32.268s, P3/1m 32.084s, P3 No problems in the Red Bull camp, where Webber said he was pretty happy and Vettel said his RB7 wasnt quite 100 percent yet. Overall, with first and third fastest times, a good start to the Milton Keynes teams weekend. Ferrari Fernando Alonso, 1m 31.894s, P1/1m 31.879s, P2 Felipe Massa, 1m 32.681s, P4/1m 32.354s, P4 Alonso was quite happy with progress, especially as he was close to Red Bull despite the cold weather which particularly doesnt suit the Ferrari. He had a minor incident with Schumacher when he had to brake as the German didnt see him coming. Massa as usual struggled a little more than the Spaniard generating heat in his tyres. Altogether, a promising day for the Scuderia. Mercedes Michael Schumacher, 1m 33.863s, P10/1m 32.411s, P5 Nico Rosberg, 1m 33.787s, P7/1m 32.557s, P6 Both drivers said they were happy with the days progress, which revolved around taking further steps forward as they enhanced the revised aero set-up debuted at Silverstone. McLaren Lewis Hamilton, 1m 32.996s, P5/1m 32.724s, P7 Jenson Button, 1m 33.628s, P6/1m 33.225s, P11 Hamilton said that he was happy with his long run pace which was better than Silverstone, and with updates that were working. Button was frustrated, struggling to balance the car in the morning, suffering KERS problems in the afternoon, then having problems with an experimental exhaust system. Red Bull and Ferrari, however, are watching McLaren carefully and expect more from them tomorrow. Renault Nick Heidfeld, 1m 35.444s, P15/1m 33.098s, P8 Vitaly Petrov, 1m 34.094s, P11/1m 33.133s, P9 Renault had a lot of changes on the R31. Heidfeld ran a rearward exiting exhaust for the first time and a complementary rear floor. Petrov tried a new front floor and front wing, but suffered from a water leak in the afternoon which necessitated a new radiator. The team said they gathered plenty of data to enable them to choose which exhaust system to run for qualifying and the race. Force India Adrian Sutil, 1m 33.832s, P8/1m 33.211s, P10 Paul di Resta (pm only), 1m 33.299s, P12 Nico Hulkenberg (am only) 1m 33.858s, P9 Sutil tried a new floor in the morning as Hulkenberg stayed with the old one, but the latter lost his KERS for the first run which skewed the findings a little. Sutil complained of understeer. Di Resta got his car back for the afternoon and worked on braking stability in his first run on the full Grand Prix circuit. Sauber Sergio Perez 1m 36.371s, P16/1m 34.113s, P13 Kamui Kobayashi, 1m 36.882s, P19/1m 34.491s, P16 Both drivers did aero work on the primes in the morning, but said they were struggling for grip on the options in the afternoon. Williams Rubens Barrichello, 1m 35.389s, P14/1m 34.344s, P14 Pastor Maldonado, 1m 36.842s, P18/1m 34.996s, P17 Barrichello and Maldonado worked on evaluating new front and rear wings and suspension, but technical director Sam Michael said that more work was needed. Toro Rosso Jaime Alguersuari, 1m 35.115s, P12/1m 34.487s, P15 Sebastien Buemi, 1m 35.371s, P13/No time Alguersuari was happy enough with progress in race trim, but not so much for qualifying, but Buemi had a misfire in the morning which necessitated him missing the afternoon as the mechanics tried to pinpoint the cause. Lotus Heikki Kovalainen, 1m 36.392s, P17/1m 35.753s, P18 Karun Chandhok, 1m 38.765s, P21/1m 37.248s, P20 Chandhok replaced Trulli as race driver this weekend and flat-spotted plenty of tyres as he worked to get used to the brakes. Kovalainen did more laps than anyone and said he was really pleased with the days work. Virgin Timo Glock, 1m 40.109s, P23/1m 36.940s, P19 Jerome D'Ambrosio, 1m 40.428s, P24/1m 37.313s, P21 Virgin focused on aero work and only ran the prime tyres in the morning, and then got going better in the afternoon to move ahead of HRT. HRT Tonio Liuzzi (pm only), 1m 38.145s, P22 Narain Karthikeyan (am only) 1m 38.504s, P20 Daniel Ricciardo, 1m 39.279s, P22/1m 40.737s, P23 Karthikeyan made a reappearance as he and Liuzzi had a positive day sharing one car. Ricciardo had a good morning but stopped with an engine problem in the afternoon
ive never been one to jump on the webber bandwagon, and im not going to... not a fan. that said, i was never a fan of vetel, but thought he was a good driver. ever since i saw SV on top gear the other night, he appears to be a pretty funny nice guy. im hoping redbull repeat the team orders this week
Was a good race! Some real entertainment! What a shame Alonso was caught sleeping when he came out of the pits! If he stayed out in front, he may have kept Hamilton at bay and scored a first place finish. I bet he is kicking himself now looking back at it. In saying that too, Hamilton looked super-fast and aggressive the entire race. Good for him.
