+1 they were one of the first to understand aero makes a difference!

that being said, notice how much W02s wing is flexing now. And they are running their MkIII wing with the additional cascade. This essentially means the back end is generating much more downforce than before as the MkIII wing was previously in testing causing far too much oversteer due to its significant amount more downforce than the MkII wing.

I knew they would be running it if the new exhaust worked out.

Ferrari also brought a raft of upgrades. Further improvements to their exhaust and a new (yes, another!) front wing. The wing was not used in first practice.

Ferrari has something good going on with their downforce as their S1 times are just stellar.

The Benz wing is flexing more than I thought! They installed scrapers to the undersides of the endplates in anticipation of having issues with wear had they not. RB did something similar only they used plastic bits.

    Sure looks that way.

Having said that, I'm pretty sure the Young Lad had just bounced off a curb in that shot.

I was surprised at the sparks though. "Back in the day" we used to put ceramic "sticks" into the bottom of the skirts to reduce wear.

    Cheers,
    Ian

You are probably right. It's certainly flexing a ton more than anyone else's though (except RB).

Nice shot and yes there is alot more flex now but to be fair Nico got that chicane all wrong on entry and loaded the rightside thus all the fireworks. Seem's the tides are turning a tad for a change but practice is not quali.

I think they are still at least .300 off of the top contenders. From what I saw in the heavy load times, they are much improved though.

It should be an interesting race and please forgive me for saying this but thank god it is on Fox!! I'm moving tomorrow and do not have Speed back at home so most likely I will not be able to watch muchless record the rest of the season and I have recorded every race race since '82, I need a hug/shot of Jack just thinking about it lol!!!

    pole times over the years:

    2003 Kimi 1:31.523
    2004 Schu 1:28.351 (!!!)
    2007 Kimi 1:31.4

We we brake 1:30 this year??? I think we might see something very close.

That's insane...I can't remember, was there anything up with the weather in any of those sessions?

3 seconds (!) in just a year of development is something else.

Yes same car underneath and they stopped using it because the drivers could not judge the corners as well and Fangio finished a race with dents on the front corners.
