Kind of shocked the Ganassis faded. Rahal 3rd, TK 4th, Oriol 5th. Best race of the year, congrats to Wheldon and Herta.

It ain't over 'til its over.

Hopefully, someday it will once again be the Indy 500 and not the Danica 500.

well, I'm pretty sure she's going to NA$CAR next year, so we'll have actual talented female drivers to focus on like Simona.

Some debate on the various Indycar boards about when the yellow came out, was it called too late. In other words, if the yellow came out at the time of the crash, Weldon was still behind JR so technically, JR would still hold his position and as his car actually crossed the line he was in fact the winner and not Weldon.

It reminds me of how Tracy got screwed a decade ago.

In any rate, what the officials say stands.

watch this clip...the green light is still on when Wheldon is past. (at roughly 50 sec)

moot point IMO, but forums love to create and feed controversy

Somehow, when J.R. started his last lap, I still had a gut feeling that he wasn't going to win, though I thought that what would probably happen to him would be running out of fuel.

While I think that Dan Wheldon was a worthy winner (even though the only lap he led was no. 200, he was near the front most of the day), I would have preferred almost any of the others who finished in the top six to have won the race:
J.R., because Panther had been so close so many times,
Graham, because I've been a fan ever since I met him at Road Atlanta,
Tony, because he's paid his dues and may be the best current driver who's never won,
Oriol, because Newman-Haas is another team that deserves a win.

But as Marco proved in 2006 and J.R. today, it seems that young rookies are destined not to win the Indy 500. It was an entertaining race, and I enjoyed watching.

I know I'm late chiming in, but holy crap what a way to lose and win the 500 for both drivers!

I literally sat on the couch with my mouth open as JR slid across the line. Unbelievable.

I saw that crash coming a mile away (okay, half a mile)....as soon as he went high to go around Kimball, I knew he was toast. what a bummer.

Yeah but he's Canadian and the conversion to kilograms is too damn hard for us in the States to translate to lbs. Thus, a fat Canadian is skinner than an obese American. :D

Yep, the metric system shinks everything but the dubes. We Americans figured that stuff out right off.

Anyway back to the race. Here's where JR ended up right below, (Let's just call it the F-Chat seat for now). ;) I'm with Ferrari Pete, this would have been awesome in the museum.

Well for the 100th Anniversary, they got a memorable one. Who was the back marker that he had to pass?

You can't get the last lap bye when you are the one that caused the yellow...

Great race! Hats off to the top five for sure. Heads will roll at Target Ganassi!
