Hi everyone, seems that my battery is dying in my 458. I'm wanting to ask what about a good stock replacement and if there is any reason to stick with a Ferrari branded battery? Thanks.

Many opinions on the subject if you do a search. I would pass on the Ferrari battery for sure, no need to pay for the Ferrari sticker on it.....and get an aftermarket brand that maybe you have had success with in the past. Question, how old is your battery and have you kept it on a battery tender? I am guessing my battery is about 4 years old (bought the car used and don't really know for sure) and works perfectly. So for me, during my life with cars, I have had great success with "DieHard" batteries from Sears. Now I know Sears is long gone and the brand was picked up by Advance Auto so I would have to have some faith that they carried on the quality that the original DieHard's had. So for me that is what I plan on doing when the time comes. Others here I have read like "InterState" and in fact, my Ferrari dealer said that is what they use for replacements. Other step up to the lithium style etc, but thats not for me.

Thanks for the thoughts. Yeah, I saw many many opinions on the subject. The battery in my car has been in there for the entire 5 years I have owned it. I do keep it on a tender probably 95% of the time. I've had good and bad luck with Diehards over the years. They seem to have lasted about 3 years at most for me. I'm thinking you are correct about a Ferrari sticker replacement. Any idea on the amperage rating on the OE batteries? Thanks.

just another option, I use the Odyssey 48-720 in my car. Perfect fit and it doesn't have any issues cranking over etc.

My Ferrari dealer recently replaced my 5 1/2 year old Ferrari battery (original one when car was built) with an Interstate battery on my 2015 458 Italia.

I had no issues/problems with the original Ferrari battery (not one single issue) and none so far with the Interstate battery.

I buy Interstate batteries for my Mercedes Benz SonderKlasse variants. No problems whatsoever, they are a quality brand in my experience.

    Cheers!

Also agree with interstate. Used them (supplied by Ferrari dealer) on my F430’s and they’re perfectly good. Don’t understand why a lot of people buy these $3000 batteries that defy gravity or whatever they do… no need.

Hi everyone, I'm rekindling this thread. A friend of mine has a 2018 Porsche Mechan that needs a battery. I'm reading about the battery change process for it and I'm seeing some battery relearn procedure to let the car know it has a new battery? WTH is that?

Porsche has settings stored in memory for battery date of installation, type, and number of amp-hrs., and usually a serial number, too. You input them at time of replacement via a tool like iCarSoft. The idea is that the battery charging profile gets altered over time to compensate for age, then gets reset. If you switch from AGM to lithium ion, you should change the setting for that, too.
Sometimes some of the systems “forget” from being disconnected, so you have to do things like cycle the window switches up and hold them up and down so they can relearn auto up/down.
Disconnecting the battery also resets the smog monitors, so you have to do a drive cycle to reset the smog monitors to pass a smog test. This applies to all cars, including Ferraris. If you are not close in time to your next test, you can just drive, as most often just driving the car normally (including a number of cold starts) for some hundreds of miles will also reset them.

Thanks - yes I know about disconnecting the battery and having the ECM reset but never heard of a vehicle having to learn it's has a new battery. You live and learn. Boy, did I give my friend the business about it. LOL
