Well, Paul Hembery is saying a 2 stopper is feasible - He actually makes some interesting points about how the harder tires promote wheelspin and larger slip angles. He does also note that the SS is very much a quali tire with just one golden lap...... http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/91691 Having said that, it seems to me they're always whining about the tires and the marbles, but come race time they manage just fine - They'll adapt just fine. Cheers, Ian
If only it were that simple... Remember how narrow Monaco is. There is virtually nowhere wide enough to get passed a well placed car even if you are miles faster than the guy in front. Remember the famous duel between Senna in a pedestrian McLaren easily holding off mansell in the massively faster Williams? I think this will come down to over taking in the pits and I doubt there will be many overtakes out on track particularly given that there are no straights long enough for DRS to work it's magic.
Someone said that the only true experience of the race in Monaco you can have after spending countless hours on trains,in lines, hungry and thirsty and waiting forever to get out of there after the event, fighting the crowds....
Mark, well at least we can get there by heli. Going out we will take our time and spend the entire day in Monaco before heading back to our apt in Cannes. I have 4 Italian friends staying with me so an apt was the only choice. I pick up the tix and the apt.....they get me into the best parties. Always helps to have someone on "the inside".
The special trains they line up for the race are a LOT more efficient than most other F1 tracks and their cars and buses. At Indy it took just an hour to get out of the parking lot and another hour to get on the highway. By that time you're already back in Nice on the balcony of your hotel sipping a Campari. BTW: I'm looking forward to your debriefing. Take pics and get some driver sigs. Will you meet Kubica after all? I got all my racing helmets signed (Irvine, Schumacher, Raikkoenen, Alonso in the works) by simply bringing the visor along. You can easily unscrew that piece and carry with you.
Oh nice! Can't wait to see him moving around a bit! The support for him will be fantastic and I am sure great for his personal moral in his recovery
No Sir! - Autosport just announced it's McNish this W/E - The media guide said Prost, but that's apparently a mistake. Cheers, Ian http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/91704
Oh well! THanks for the update I believe Mclaren takes the crown for the coolest wing on the grid. Here they have sort of a diffuser setup on the front wing backside. Very impressive stuff Image Unavailable, Please Login
The design was copied from a ladies hat seen at the royal wedding. It did have to be turned down a notch or two to pass the scrutineers though.
I think all of the teams have those strakes on the bottom of the front wings, at least all of the ones I've seen do at least.

Thanks for the pics. I wonder what guys from the 60s (pre-wings) would think if you could put that wing in their hands?
