the first GP of the season in in the books. Stoner pretty much dominated, as did Honda except for Lorenzo on the Yamaha in 2nd.

Ducati was a bit disappointing, Vale in 7th and Nicky in 9th (although Nicky did improve from his 13th place qualifying spot )

first time since 1974 that a Suzuki wasn't on the grid...

    thoughts from the bike guys?

I'm disappointed but optimistic in the Ducati effort. I know you don't win a championship in the first race but to hear that Vale wasn't 100% physically it took a little out of it.

If Yamaha can find a little more speed for him, Lorenzo is back in business.

    Stoner was untouchable.

Lorenzo looked very pleased with his second place. The Yamaha's top speed deficit probably matter less in many other tracks, so this was a great start of the season for him.

It really seemed like a uphilll struggle for Rossi...

Pedrosa posed a threat but continues to suffer from physical limitations caused by his crash last year. I think he and Stoner will be racing with Lorenzo this year, but the Hondas do have the better acceleration and turning package right now, while the Yamaha compromise turning for braking stability, which appeared evident in the race yesterday. If Spies could come on stronger at the start and first few laps, he could be in the race with them, but that has not come true but in rarer cases. Both Dovi and Supersic are showing great speed outa the chute, which is good, and I have to believe that Rossi will improve in stamina and the Ducati will get better with Burgess' magic...I think the racing will be good this year in MotoGP.

It was a fun race, at least while Pedrosa was fighting hard with Stoner. I am happy for Casey, making the move to a new team, and showing he means business right out of the gate. People were saying that the Duc was tailor-made for his riding style, but I have to say the Honda looks tailor-made for him as well.

I have little doubt that Rossi can develop the DUC into a contender, but I have to wonder how far off he is from being 100% with his shoulder. And I wonder if riding will keep it from getting to 100%.

    What a race!

I don't think Rossi won many new fans today... and probably lost a few....

I was thoroughly enjoying Rossi's charge to the front, he was certainly in classic form. Rare mistake by him, I felt so bad for Stoner, who was an innocent victim. Incredible that Rossi ended up 5th, thanks to all of the retirements. Well, it happens to the best of them......

Great result for Hayden. Felt bad for both Spies and Edwards, both were looking very promising. Pedrosa showed some great form, too bad he is unable to do that for an entire race. I look forward to when he is recovered 100% - then we will see some great battles between him and Stoner.

+1. If Stoner had driven faster or let the faster Rossi by him, the accident wouldn't have happened so its clearly Stoner's fault....I'm kidding of course....gotta feel for Stoner but its a long season...more passes in 3 laps of a motogp race than in an entire F1 race...great stuff.

Decent enough race this past weekend, good finish for Rossi.

What is everyone's take on the move by Simoncelli on Pedrosa?

I think Simo was at fault...he came in too hot and cut Ped off...but then again, that's racing. Rossi has been getting away with it for years, the only difference being he is usually sucessful at it. ;) It was good to see Stoner & Rossi on the podium...anyone but LorenTHo. haha

So what happened to Simoncelli? Rattled by all the criticism? Laying low for one race?

Anyway, is the criticism legit or just b*tching and moaning by the other drivers, trying to minimize the threat that (I think) he is?

So happy for Casey...after years of difficulty with the Duc, he's back on top. :)
