...ALL...I have an opportunity to trade my 996tt with the x50 package for a low miles 2011 Boxster Spyder...I wish I could keep both...what are everyone's thoughts on this...the 996 is a special car but so is the spyder...I feel the Spyder is the better "hold" as far as VALUE not INVESTMENT but I could be wrong...I have always loved the lines of the spyder and really don't care about complaints with the top assembly as it will, for the most part, driven in decent weather except for getting caught in ocassional rain...I love the "ride quality" of the spyder...obviously,it does not have the power spectrum of the 996tt but it is fast enough for me...thoughts on the tt trade in for spyder very appreciated from all in advance, thanks,Stuart

I would trade my UMW Stage 1 996tt for a Boxster Spyder.

Both are great Porsches. The 996TT has the Mezger flat six and is highly desirable. The Boxster Spyder is a minimalist pure concept. PDK or manual is a personal preference but the manuals are the more collectible and sought after as are the carbon sport seats in the Boxster Spyder. Color, condition and documented history also plays a huge part.

1st gen spyder is better looking than the 2nd gen spyder IMHO. The roof and side glass is properly contoured to the body, and the rear window panel can be removed so you can use the top as a sun shade while still getting the open air feeling (see pic below). This is lost on the 2nd gen as porsche tried to make top easier to use, thus rear panel cannot be removed and side windows are not contoured, same as regular boxster. 1st gen Spyders are the bargain on the Porsche Market. Buckets (see pic below) seem to bring the most value for the 1st gen. Attached is pics of my 1 of 4 PTS 2012 Spyder with radio delete
