I just thought I'd share that my ex-brother in sin has been in Georgia dry ice blasting corrosion off of new 2011 Porsches.

I don't really know all the details but apparantly some of the metal underneath the car is requiring this process to rid the cars of corrosion they are experiencing on the boat ride.

I would assume it's all OK after the process but I just thought it was interesting and thought I'd share.

    Anybody else heard about this?

Yikes! They weren't Cayennes were they? My parents are still mulling over a 2011 Cayenne S - probably now waiting until they're a year old and getting one then.

Thanks for the heads-up Brian. If you hear anything else please pass that along too. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

ALL Porsches he said. I assume they are actually fixing the problem though. I'm sorry I don't have more details. He went once about three weeks ago and blasted a couple hundred cars or so and went back this past week and didn't do any cars, apparantly they didn't need it.

I wouldn't shy away from a new Cayanne, I would love to have one.

Well, the original plan was to look at a 2009 or 2010 Cayenne (V6) but then the Cayenne S (V8) sounded like a better buy with the "all Porsche" engine. Then they decided they really liked the interior of the 2011 over the previous generation. Unfortunately, they couldn't afford to pull the trigger on the 2011 right away because the BMW they were going to trade in on it is worth much less than they thought it was. So in about a year when a few 2011 Cayenne S models have had a few miles put on them and depreciated a little then they should be able to get one. At least, that was pretty much the plan the last time I talked to them about cars.

I'm sure if there are any issues, as long as Porsche are addressing them then I doubt it would put my folks off. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

IMO the Cayenne is the best 5 seat SUV out there closely followed by audi Q5. I bought 2011 Cayenne and am upgrading to 2011 Cayenne S with some accessories I wanted in the car. The interior/exterior is much improved over the last generation Cayenne.
