Hello every 1 this is my first post I'm looking into buying a barely used silver 2012 F458 Italia (900 kms) , but after visiting the forum the past couple of days am starting to get cold feet ! Alot of guys r having trouble with their transmissions and the new double clutch system. How widely spread is this ? is this problem only in 2010 models ? did they fix it in the 2012 models? I'm from Saudi Arabia and the dealer is 35 kms away and there are NO customer rights or lemon laws n Saudi lol ive had few minor problems in lambos but not as scary as i'm reading abt trannys failures in the 458 ! pls advise
Thousands of us bought them and have no problems. I have a 2012 and it's got the latest software for the gearbox. It makes it more aggressive feeling. I love it. Race mode is amazing. My point is this: no one gets on Fchat every day and says "my gearbox worked perfect today!". So, problems are of any sort are overly exaggerated in forums. I love my 458. I can't wait to get another with a pop top.
great point, naturally ... people don't tend to post when everything works as expected. simple perspective : count how many posters have had transmission problems (ten? less?) Divide by how many have probably been produced to date (thousands?).
Ahlain Bader Are you in Jeddah or Riyadh? The transmission issues are in all honesty just a very small group of people. I'd say take the leap and find your right car! Haithem
Bdelp hit the nail on the head. It's like the media, good news is not what people want to hear/talk about. They want the dirty details. Buy the car your looking at if it makes you weak in the knees.
Thanks guys for your help and warm welcome bdelp : Thanks alot , " no one gets on Fchat every day and says : my gearbox worked perfect today! " <very valid point lol da3bous : Haithem im located in Khobar in the Eastern Province . No Ferrari dealer here , we either go to bahrain to service our cars or send it all the way to Riyadh : /
My 2012 is working perfect, no issues to report about, i doubt any serious problems can occur with current models so its higly unlikely you will have any trouble with the car.
I lived in dammam, but my family is originally from Jeddah. Well at least the Riyadh dealer from what i hear is better than Jeddah's.
