I wonder what this means, if anything, for other regions that have feeds from the BBC.

I would hate to see differences between who is broadcasting, i.e. commentators, graphics, features, etc...

Although NASCAR may be a bit of a forbidden subject in this forum, they have 2 completely different broadcasting channels, including teams and everything else that switch half way through the season, and I think it is horrendous.

    SKY is brilliant!!!

Happy to see the beginning of the end of BBC.... horrible coverage. Completely skewed towards the Lew Ham Mcl fan base!

    Great day!

Really? Untill now I haven't met anyone that doesn't think the current BBC coverage is anything less than brilliant. And I am no Hamilton / McLaren fan.

It is terrible. The one time I found myself in miserable England watching the BBC coverage of F1 all I heard was "Hamilton, Hamiton, Mclaren, Senna, Hamilton, Mclaren, Hamilton, Senna Senna, Hamilton, Mclaren" They even cut the podium ceremony short to talk to Ron Dennis about Hamilton... who was not even on the podium!!!

Good to see them on their way out!

What makes you think Sky will be any better? Going on there past efforts in handling other sports and media, they sensationalise more then any other UK broadcaster.

The BBC are definitely biased towards Hambone, but what makes you think SKY will be any different? It makes me sick hearing their bull about him, but you just learn to ignore them and wait for the odd piece on other teams

Depending on where you look, it seems the BBC might still be showing all races in their entirety, but with some of them delayed until later in the day. If thats correct than that is not such a bad change, in fact I already time-shift the races to the evening using PVR anyway, as I suspect many other people do, especially in the summer when you want to be out somewhere during the day.
But other reports suggest only highlights for half the races, not sure which is the correct story.

I'm not prepared to pay $50 a month to Sky Sports so this is pretty much goodbye to live F1 except a few times a year. I'd rather download the torrent an hour after the race than watch those clowns on Speed so all I can hope for at this point is that the fantastic BBC team (yea Eddie too) does the Sky broadcasts.

I did not say SKY will be any better. Sky will be no different. But they will be two broadcasters and lesser profits when being split into two. So both make no money from F1. If there is no TV broadcaster making any money from F1 in the UK... the lesser the coverage. The lesser the coverage of F1 in the UK... the lesser the UK spin media and Hamilton coverage the world will get.

This is a perfect situation. Rather than awarding a pay per view format with sole rights to broadcast there will be two media groups battling for essentially the same demographic in the UK. They tried to copy the German winning formula between RTL and SKY Germany. But what they fail to realize that the German speaking demographic extends into Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, France and Poland.
