A quick search of this vin pulled up an old ad from Ferrari of Seattle showing the interior color as Blu Scuro rather than the black that it looks to have in the photos. Can you post the original sticker?
Found a couple ads from back when it had 3,000 miles and the pics clearly have the same black Daytona seats with red inserts despite the description saying blu. (I love the interior)
So weird, maybe it was just a bad photo? Here is one of the photos from the old ad. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't think there is a "story" here to discover. The difference between the seat color appearance in your photo from this old advert from Ferrari of Seattle (http://gomotors.net/buy-car/2012-Ferrari-458-Spider--Base-20681/) and the one on the Cats Exotics website is easily dismissed as a variation of ambient lighting and photography settings. I wonder if Go Motors just got the interior color wrong when selecting it from a drop-down list to quickly prepare the advert for FoS - it does happen from time to time. For example, this advert on Go Motors lists a "Cadillac Escalade" but shows photographs of a Toyota: http://gomotors.net/buy-car/2004-Cadillac-Escalade--Base-160013/ Maybe you shouldn't put so much faith the listed spec from old adverts on sites that have questionable records for accuracy. All the best, Andrew.
Ok, I simply called Ferrari and they confirmed it is BLUE, not black. It seemed strange that the seller hadn't chimed in with a simple response, but when this car hit the US, the interior was Blue. Furthermore, the advertisement from Ferrari of Seattle specified in their written description all the blue parts. Somebody owes me a beer. Case closed!
What number did you dial? The only advert I can find that pre-dates the sale at Cats Exotics is the GoMotors advert. As aforementioned, there are serious concerns regarding the veracity of that particular website. What other advert did you discover? All the best, Andrew.
I called my local Ferrari dealer and gave them the VIN. They simply looked it up and confirmed it was Blue. Don't take my word for it, just call and ask.
I have not chimed in as I did not see your response and concern about the color of the seats of this car. I can not answer why your "Contact" reads the vin as Blu..I am sure there was a mistake at one point somewhere. This car has ALWAYS been here in Seattle with its owners and was ALWAYS what appears to me as Black... WITH that said...I just went and looked at the interior myself. It is possible that it is the Blu Scuro which if it is, its a very dark dark blue....if you look at it, the seats are LESS solid Black then the seat belts and the rubber trim around the seats...so I guess you can call it a Shade of black/Blu....I still think anyone looking at the car would say its Black....but I have seen other strange colors with Italian names that make no sense.... If it make you feel better...I am glad to label it what ever color you want on the purchase Order for you...LET me know when you want to wire funds for this stunning 458 with Blu/Black Seats...LOL I guess this is the end of my "Story".. Roy Cats
Thank you!! I was starting to feel like I was in the twilight zone! I don't see why there is so much resistance to calling it what it is. This car is listed on Ebay as BLACK interior and I'd think the seller would want to get it right. I'm surprised by the snarky response as most car salesmen at this level are more professional.
I mistrusted the GoMotors advert, but otherwise was just trying to establish how thorough your investigation was. Happy to concede you were right. All the best, Andrew.
I am the owner of CATS EXOTICS not a Salesman...sorry if you think its a Snarky remark..I just pretty much talk as I do...I would call it a funny remark....I think maybe you read into that to much... I will have the add changed sometime today....thanks for your input, maybe next time PM the originator of the thread so they can pop in and answer....I have well over 70 cars at any given time and just dont have the time to view each and every thread in over 5 different websites....
Sorry if you felt that was 'Snarky..but it came from me the OWNER not a salesman...and I think it was a funny response...still do... Next time you may want to PM the thread originator...I know for me, with over 70 cars at anyone time..its hard to go back and forth all day looking at threads started and responding, just dont have the time... However...I am not sure what it is, I guess each buyer will have to decide..here is a pic of Blu Scuro from Ferrari ..?? You can also see the pics of the 430 we have spyder, that FOR SURE is BLU... http://www.catsexotics.com/vehicle-details/2007-ferrari-f430-spider-lynnwood-wa-id-20389901
This is sorta funny...Roy, give the seattle dealer a call and have them sent the build sheet over. Always a good thing to have in the documentation anyways...
I wish!! FOS does not share with any Dealers info on a car that they once sold new OR used. Cant get the build sheet from them. BUT, in all fairness, most all Dealers are dong this now, all have a fear of a law suit for releasing customer secured info. Cant blame them for that.
Add has been updated...thanks for the input and helping us get this corrected. http://www.catsexotics.com/vehicle-details/2012-ferrari-458-spider-lynnwood-wa-id-19999089
I understand what you are saying about the interior. I for one am still laughing at the thread. The interior is black, I dont care what a vin# says, it could be a mistake from the factory. I changed it to make people here happy. The interior IS BLACK. Your more then welcome to come view it in person. I asked over 30 people that came into our shop yesterday, showing them this car and the car we have next to it that is INDEED Blu Scuro....EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE says its Black, which it is. Further more, FOS old ad says the DASH, the steering wheels as well are finished in BLU SCORO...go ahead and read it. THERE IS no way this DASH or steering wheel is Blu they are BLACK. eller's Notes: Options Include: AFS System, Alcantara Headliner in Blu Scuro, Aluminum Colored Brake Calipers, Carbon Fiber Driver Zone + LED's, Carbon Fiber Central Bridge, Cruise Control, Leather Central Tunnel in Blu Scuro, Carbon Fiber Dashboard Inserts, Daytona Style Seats, Upper Dashboard in Blu Scuro, Front Dash Trim in Blu Scuro, Suspension Lifter, iPod Connection, Scuderia Shields, Full Optional Mirrors, Front & Rear Parking Sensors, Special Paint Color in Rosso Maranello, Yellow Rev Counter, 20" Sport Forged Diamond Finish Rims, Full Electric Seats, Hi-Power Hi-Fi, Special Stitching in Bordeaux, Daytona Inserts in Bordeaux Alcantara, Colored Steering Wheel in Blu Scuro, Upper Part in Blu Scuro Alcantara, Tinted Windows, Stoneguard, Hidden Radar Detector, One-Owner, Sold & Serviced by Ferrari of Seattle, Remainder of Factory Warranty plus Genuine Maintenance Service. I did a PPI on this car about a week ago (Josh at Veloce, next door to Cats. I liked him, seems like a straight shooter). The report came back pretty darn clean, so I don't think there is much of a "story" here. My big gripe was a repaint of the rear bumper. Josh indicated it looked fine indoors, but the color didn't look the same to him in daylight. I was still a buyer at a price, but we couldn't agree on the number. I didn't bother driving up to see the car at that point, so I can't offer any feedback on the interior color.
Thanks for chiming in. I was out of town when you where working with my Salesman on this car. I was not aware of a PPI had been done. I just went and looked at the rear bumper. The very very very slight color change appears to be on the very lower section. Josh as I just spoke to, agrees, that it is due to the urethane paint on the 5mph flex bumper section is slightly different paint used so it does not crack when this flexible part of the bumper flex's. You can call me direct and see what number we can work out. Would love to have a positive outcome for all on this..NOT to mention it would be great to have another set of eyes let everyone know the interior is Black LOL LOL Can reach me at 425-787-6200 Thanks Roy Cats
