Hi, I have just ordered a 458 for an April 2012 delivery, and will be in Maranello to spec it in December. Does anyone know what changes are expected for the 2012 Model Year Updates?

    Thanks.

    Congrats :)

As far as I know there are no changes, at least for the US market, whose model year 2012 begins in September.

As for a April 2012 car, minor changes are possbile, I guess.

Was that the earliest slot available for you?

Which colours (interior/exterior) are you inclined towards?

Looks like mine will arrive about the same time. I think you were right, our cars may have been bunking together on the same boat.

The biggest difference is the 7 year warranty program. Earlier models CA and 458 models can buy into it but 2012 gets it standard.

My understanding is that it's not 7 year warranty program, but rather a 7 year maintenance program. Big difference.

Yep. It's already built and in transit -- one month ahead of schedule. My ETA in LV is sometime in September. My guess is around the 15th.

But, I'm not going to think about that right now.

Quoted by my dealer for my 2012 car:

    Base = $229,832.
    Gas guzzler tax is $2,600 + Freight/prep is $2,750 = $5350.

So, the base price went up $4500 to cover the new 7 year program. Not bad, not great. The second and third owners will get the benefit of most of the cars sold. But, it may be easier to resell a 7 year warranty car so there may be some first owner benefit too.'

If you keep the car 4 or 5 years, the free warranty will just about break even.

so 235,182 and the 2011 was 230,675...so price increase of 4507 for the 7 year maintenance plan.... so thats 643.86 prepaid per year in service.

Does anyone know whats covered in the maintenance plan and the:

Cost of / Suggested intervals of (if they are even covered)

    Oil Change

    Brake Flush

    Transmission Flush

    Brake Pads/Pad wear sensor

    Clutch fluid flush

My understanding is most new ferraris cost about 800-2200 to upkeep per year (not including gas or tires)

My F430 took an average of $1400 per year (some had it for less, some a little more) in routine maintenance costs. My dealer said the costs of the 458 are less as it need fewer hours to do the maintenance over time. (I think it was like 24 to 12 over 3 years).

So, in my head, that means a grand a year. That's the figure I'm thinking of.

11FER's location is stated as England, so that is why I was giving information about UK spec cars.

The 7-year service started a while ago here. Also, model years here are not really that relevant. And new pricing will come into effect in Jan of 2012 I think.

No I think it was made in July. I tried to change something in my order in June and was told it was too late (it wasn't a biggie so I wasn't concerned). So, I had a feeling it was not being made in September. It must have been in mid July sometime.

Am I excited? I'll let you know when it arrives.

So its a deal for those that plan on driving and keeping their cars. Also if this really helps with resale in that 7 year time span.

Yes, that's about it. It's not a bad deal. It's just not a great deal. It's kind of a marketing gimmick but on the other hand, I can see some benefit to owners.

I'd rather have it than not have it. You know that F430 spider owners were "required" to buy the 4 year of the power warranty (coupe owners didn't have to). Actually, I like that. I figured if I were going to sell my car, a good time would be 3 years so it would have the 4th year for the new owner -- easier to sell that way.

Seriously, don't worry about it. Whatever they tell you will probably be wrong anyway.

Until you get the call that it's arrived at the dealer, everything else is just speculation. This will be the second car that I ordered that came early. I wonder if they do that on purpose because no one complains if it's early but everyone complains if its late (just look at those who ordered McLarens!)
