The clear coat is key that most do not do. My experience, I use Rustoleum in my shop and used it at home. But for some reason I had to re-do 4 times (1x gray, 3x tan) in 9 years at home and we do it every couple of years at the shop because of high traffic. looks great but but at home it would lift, peel, etc even prepped properly. My father did tan at his house but put a special clear coat on it (he had same problem as I) but not the Rustoleum clear, it was something more heavy duty and it is lasting and looks great with that glossy clear. It seems the clear is protecting the epoxy and preventing the hot tire from peeling it and things being dragged across it. So, I got completely fed up at home and pulled the trigger on tile (and funky 70's color walls) that I have been dreaming to do for years. wow great looking tile! I guess I'll find out how the epoxy lasts, no snow or rain cars in there so that should help. I'm planning Lime Rock on Sat too...
Jay...you have an open seat for my brother? He and his son will be joining me and I'd rather not make him drive his POS. (Might not need it as he might bring his bike)
I might join you guys, but I've got a lot on my plate at the moment. Looks great! I did vitreous ceramic quarry tiles in the basement and bedded them in about $1500 of marine epoxy. These are the same sort they use in fast food restaurants, the idea being that they should be durable. They've held up well over the last 10 years, though a few didn't like a milling machine being rolled across them. Side benefit is a lot less moisture down there as well. I had bad luck with the epoxy paint previously, but I didn't clearcoat. I suspect it will be a big gathering. Sadly, I'll be in a daily driver, as the fun car is down for 2-3 weeks of maintenance.
Driving by with friend in W. Springfield on Saturday afternoon and spoted a red 308 in the back of the used lot on the far left side and was wondering if anyone knows anything about this car? Thanks in advance
Been reading the forum for a couple of months now but have not made it to Gbury as yet. Hope to make it one of these Sundays. Own a 2008 Porsche Cayman S and live in Newington. You might try a little Franks Red Hot. I put that s*** on everything! Not so sadly...I'm not going to make it today. Son's graduation..
Should be wrenching on the F-car Saturday, hopefully I'll bring it on Sunday. BTW, Lane: Frank's Red Hot rocks... I also eat everything with a glaze of Rosso Corsa.
ERIC...Dude...Where ya been. Saturday for Jay and myself. We're meeting in Burlington at around 10 or 10:30. Wanna join up?
What a day! I was bored out of my mind till 3 then the wheels fell off. My son came home with a friend who's car leaks oil. I had asked him to park it on the grass to keep the driveway clean. He remembered at the last minute and turned the wheel just in time to hit my well head and shatter the cast cap. Bigger problem is the well cap is low enough to fit under his bumper. The part that stopped his forward momentum was his rack and pinion steering gear. Ripped the tie rod off the rack, both front wheels pointing in different directions now with one free floating and attached to nothing. New rack required...can't be fixed. After diagnosis I went to the house to check on parts suppliers and my Bro in law calls. Seems my father in Law decided to disassemble part of his tractor to fix something and is now stuck. Check parts for the kid in my front yard and hauled ass to Orange to fix dads tractor. Its a 1965 International Harvester Big Ten like you might see at a agricultural fair with a couple of clowns riding it. His still cuts his grass after the loss of lots of my DNA keeping it running. He was trying to get the gas tank off because no gas was going to the engine (visible in line filter). After Diagnosis I determined a homemade gasket he had fabricated for the gas cap had fallen into the tank and blocked the fuel bung. Fixed it, reassembled all the stuff he took off and got the tractor running. He took it for a test cut and I went inside to say hello to mom. She is sitting in her chair complaining about the heat. Her 25,000 btu window A/C is running full blast but its sweltering in there. Didn't take long to figure that one out. Every single window and door in the house was wide open. While closing them all I noticed the window A/C for her bedroom was still in the closet from last winter. I was already dirty... so that's done. 3 or 4 other WTF's happened but now I'm back home looking for a beer....Dammit kids!!! couldn't leave one for dear old dad Huh!
