Buyer is getting a good deal. Here in Canada, a low mileage, 2011's still sell for around $170K U.S.
Well...CAR IS STILL Available....That no Good Son of....was playing us....First he agreed to 155K....Then he missed the day he was coming to inspect the Car and Wire money....next week comes....He wanted a letter from Bank of America stating that the car would be transferred to him when the loan was paid...They were puzzled, but wrote him a letter with my Dad's pay out...which was 150,300.00........So then, a few days go buy....he said all His bank would give him is 150K loan for the Car......I Told him, "So, just come up with the other 5K"...no bank loans you the Full amount on a used car anyway, if the bank is loaning you 97% of the value of the Car, that shows how Low the car is priced and what a good deal you're getting...Right?.......Well...he says, He'd buy it if we Come down to 150K......I goggled his address...He Freaking lives on the Ocean in Lajolla Ca.....REALLY!!...What A cheap Ass. ......Its a good thing I'm handling the Calls... ....My Dad wanted to tell him to Kiss his F.....A.. and he wouldn't sell him the car for any price after all the trouble we went through, getting him all kinds of Bull**** he didn't even need.... So A Day goes by and he wants to know if we'd take his offer....I told him.....We'd split the Difference and make it 152,500...but you have to wire the money in Two Days or the Deal is off........ He had the nerve to tell me..."Well, my bank still needs a independent inspection of the Car".....WHAT...It STILL HAS A FACTORY WARRANTY!!....It was just serviced and Full inspection Done....YOU have to paper work.....Man...Some people,....I told him, never mind...the car just went up to 200,000....I guess your out.... . Oh Well...Back on Ebay. ......Ready for "next" one...Its almost getting Fun.
Perhaps you should relist the car at a higher price. A serious purchaser may think there is something wrong with it as the price is so low and not bother to come and see it. Too good to be true and all that. You might also avoid the chancers who see an opportunity to flip it and are just going to waste your time. The other option is to put on consignment with a Rolls dealer. Best of luck.
I thought about that, but then We'd be competing with all the dealers...our only way to compete now, is to offer a lower price, like 25K lower, than the dealers and hopefully some suave buyer will find it....If they read the Ad, they will see its a Perfect car...96 car fax report....Really no reason to suspect anything is wrong with the car........we also thought about the consignment...but then it sits at some dealer and he puts his mark up on it, so its competing with all the others ......I think we just have to find a buyer who really wants a Good Rolls.... I wonder how many newer Rolls actually Sell in America during a week?.....or Month?.... Its on Cars.com...Autotrader...ebay Rolls Royce Ghost EWB Sedan 4 Door | eBay
It's priced right, it will sell. The market you are in, the real buyers buy new and are not price sensitive. When you get to the used RR market, you get the flippers, the wannabes, the bottom dollar jerks, and the con men. In your favour, you only need one buyer. He or she is out there. Market broadly enough, via print and web, and you should be able to do this no problem. I wonder if advertising in some online Kuwaiti/Qatar/UAE/GCC-oriented website would be beneficial? One time waster is not a big deal, too bad he was a smooth enough talker that he strung you along for so long. Hang in there.
I get the feeling he was interested, but could not line up the financing. He tried to tie up the car, and buy more time. Had you dropped the price by $2,500, he would have tried another delaying tactic. Amateur for not having the money organized. Amateur in how he tried to string you along. Not really a conman, just an idiot. A true conman would have convinced you to carry the loan, or co-sign one for you. And promptly disappeared after taking delivery.
Update... Finally had a normal buyer... Guy called. This time I told him right off the bat, that the car has sold 3 times, but they never had their money lined up... The guy told me he could wire the money in a day... I said good, what do you need to know... He asked a few questions .. I told him my dad is firm on the price because it's already way less than what most sell for ... He knew that and wired the money... Transporter picking up car tomorrow... Nice quick easy deal... Like it "Suppose to be".
What a saga, I'm glad to hear it finally worked out. The buyer got a good deal and I'm sure they'll enjoy the car.
If you are not in a big rush to sell it ; listed with an average market price (higher price) on ebay that might give you a surprise .. Good luck with the sale .. hope everything will go fine and smooth ....
It is rediculously easy to sell a car when an actual buyer comes along. The transaction is smooth and effortless. I've always said that there are "buyers" and "excuse makers" Most people think they are more serious than they actually are. When a actual buyer wants something, he buys it, he doesn't screw around. He's too scared he'll miss out and someone else will get it. Glad you sold it!
