Anyone participating or attending? It is beautiful at Road America today for practice. I am in SRF 69, Main Paddock space 16, about 100 yards past Start/finish.

I was going to attend, but I have a race of my own in Springfield this weekend. However I'll be routing for my buddy Lawrence Loshak in HP & Formula 1000

Too expensive to bring the SM and it's not a competitive car at this level

here are some guys I know or rooting for!

    Ott, Steve - F1000
    Wills, Darryl - FM, SRF
    Heinricy, John - AS
    Goulart, Elivan - SM, STU
    Ferguson, Kevin - SRF
    Verges, Keith - SRF
    White, Scotty B - T2, T3
    Lipperini, Joel - BS
    Huffmaster, Ray - STU, STL
    Huffmaster, Rob - STL

Turnouts look great! I believe SCCA has consolidated classes since I was there though. I am overwhelmed how few names I know. Very very few of the guys racing Runoffs just 5 years ago are still racing. Seems like racing, especially at the Runoffs level has a very high turnover. I'm still at an OK racing age (39) and have more resources now than when I raced, but after 10 years of it ending with a couple good efforts towards the Runoffs I have absolutely no desire to race anymore. If only having 10 years to race I think I would have been better off now with more resources, even though my reactions are a little slower.

I just got back from my first qualifying session in GT2. Driving a 997 Porsche Cup car and put it in 4th (1/100th from 3rd) with a lap time of 2:15.3. I am in car #80 and paddocked with the Fall-Line guys past start finish along the front straight. Stop by and say hello if you're around.

tell me about those East Street Racing Spec Miatas. seems like they have been dominating for several years. in a spec class are they just better at being spec than everyone else? Does Jim Drago have a good reputation? Looks like about $35k for complete car.

just like in Animal Farm, some cars are more equal than others ;)

some shops just focus 100% on a certain car and really perfect it, find all the secrets. MBI in California does that in SRF.

and for $35k you can build one hell of a Spec Miata :) that's decent Spec Boxster money.

If I got back in racing SM would be tempting for the huge fields and close racing. My RX8 was so much cooler and more unique though, just no where great to race it. I'm old now, maybe I need to go SRF and then FV! :D

I think when the new motor comes out for SRF, that's an interesting proposition. too slow now for my liking but with more power and the same field sizes/competition that would be a blast.

A lot of fast times so far up there! Including my buddy Lawrence who set a new class qualifying record at 2:04:786 in his F1000 and then put his 2nd car immediately on the pole in HP. Good luck Keith & John

That was my sophomore season, just cocky enough to be aggressive in the rain. Only car I ever totaled, went another 8 years with RX8 and Challenge never major incident.

Thanks. Yeah, I knew when I saw Andrew on the entry list he would be up at the front. Going to have to do my best to run him (and some other guys) down on Friday morning.

You should try Formula Mazda if you want to go faster. Not as big fields, but very quick and well into the 2-teens at RA.

Rain this morning so no real times in SRF. Nice to see other folks so quick. SRF race is going to be crazy as is SM
