I'm giving consideration to adding a 2013 F12 to my collection and wondering if anyone can advise whether the 2013 model year possesses any peculiarities are issues as compared to to later later production years? Any input, guidance, or background info much appreciated, thanks!

The question has been asked before - use the search for more details but, in summary, Ferrari tend to make running changes which aren't documented so a later model is always likely to be better sorted than an earlier model. However, there is nothing which has shown up in the field except for gearbox speed sensor failure on the earliest cars (2012 MY). The most notable change from a user perspective is the infotainment system but I believe that the 2014 you're likely to be looking at has the same system as the 2013 so no difference for you (I think the upgraded head unit came in 2015 & 2016 MY).
