Last corner last lap he could care less about tire management. He was after max braking loading the outside weight bearing tire and to heck with the near useless inner tire.
He is a very smart driver.

Kind of boggles my mind that anyone would think that a team would hobble one of its drivers to advance another.
One may get preferential orders, perhaps a newer part or two before the other gets it but to hold back another driver to adbvance another is far fetched. Its all about the Benjamins.

Now what a driver on track would do to their "team-mate" is a whole nother story.

    Very good article.
I do differ a little bit on his RBR's assessment in that the car is built for mid/lower speed tracks just like last year.
Witness their small rear wing size earlier this year and still maintained solid traction.
RBR has pulled this last minute "tweeking" in the first races the last several years where it looks like a disorganized panic. The always pull out of it.
If I were the rest of the teams I'd be very worried.

In a recent interview a contrite Pat Symonds says that a lot worse has happened and gone unreported.

    Motorsport Mag? Which issue?

Anyway, *worse* than ordering a guy to crash?

I really can't think of anything more heinous to the entire sport than such BS. *If* true, anyone (proven to be) involved should be banned from the paddock for life. No ifs, ands, or buts, your career in motorsport (not just F1) should be over.

Cheating? Sure. Spying? Sure. Stealing information, maybe even "plants" with different teams I can go with. But manipulating a race by putting life in unnecessary danger is anathema unlike anything else.

Thinking about it makes my blood run cold.

Yes, I know they're incredibly safe these days and the driver will most likely walk away. BUT, they don't *know* that and then there's the danger to marshals & spectators etc. It may look like they're playing a video game, and I guess "youngsters" just assume they can press the replay button & all will be good. Sorry, there's still peoples lives at stake here.

    Cheers,
    Ian

+1...there is simply no logic behind the assertion. If they were that upset with Webber, they would just fire him and replace him with someone like Kobayashi.

Journalists work to sell stories. We must always remember that.

    +1 to all.

They were certainly all over the place with their rear wings on Friday. Can't find it now, but someone posted a picture comparing the cars and one looked almost Monza spec versus the other closer to Monaco!...... I was hoping they were just lost and the lack of communication between the two was hobbling them. [We can but hope! ;)]

Anyway, I've been critical of Gary in the past, but thought some selected highlights were worth posting here.

I guess I'm a little older than him, but even going back a little further it was the same.

    Cheers,
    Ian

OK, thanks. I'll have to try and find it.

Did he claim others have been told to crash?

Or "just" that there's always been "shenanigans" in the paddock?

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Sept issue.

No indication that other crashes were orchestrated.
    Interesting interview.

Ahh, OK! My blood pressure can return to (what passes as ;)) normal.

Back stabbing, "dodgy deals", "blackmail", even "cheating" I can handle.

    Intentional crashes - Never!

Your right but that was a special circumstance. There was a plan to advance the team.
For example Flavster would never have had a wheel nut attached improperly just to screw Senna to favor of Alonso's position within the team.
Which is what the Webber conspiracy theorists are claiming.

    Fix't ;)

    Ridiculous assertions!

    He was deliberately underfueled? Nonsense.

They deliberately left a wheel lose? Utter nonsense.

    Agreed.

Thinking back to last season I don't think I remember there ever being as much comradery as I've seen this year.

Also note Button with a big smile congratulation Hamilton for Pole position. There just seems to be something different throughout this year that wasn't there last year. Perhaps some of it has to do with RB and that whole fiasco.

No conspiracy as far as I can glean right now.

Webster will probably get the short end of the stick from now on, regards updates and testing stuff am sure, but that will be about it, as normal.

    Favourable or not ..?

IMO Flav was in bed with porno Max, and got away with blue murder, for along time, thats until he fell out with him, then the dung hit the fan and Flav and his F1 boat got sunk.
