Aero in the front and rear fenders is blocked off to reduce downforce. Smaller rear wing. No ABS or TCS. Engine limited to 8000 RPM (9000 in GT3 last I checked). Door windows removed. Spec Continental tires. -mike
I was hoping you'd chime in what do they start as? ALMS GT cars and dumbed down, Euro GT3 cars, challenge cars....?
Anything to help spread the Good Word!! They start as Euro GT3 cars, then get tweaked at the factory for Grand-Am/Rolex (forgot to mention they also have a beefed up rollcage). Once here in the states, you can make a few small changes to the cars: * Steering wheel mounted shifters versus the street/challenge style that are mounted on the column. * Driver adjustable rollbars. -mike
Great shots...thanks for sharing!!! MW is looking as fit as ever...HAHA I was at the 50th running of this race last year and REALLY wish I could make it back again this year but unfortunately my schedule is not cooperating. Good luck to everyone who is attending the race(and racing)...and don't forget to post pics of the event!!!
I'll be there early tomorrow. Unfortunately I won't be able to post any pics because my silver subscription has expired
LOL I just re subscribed but apparently it takes longer to approve the transaction than it does to run the actual race so my pics may be a bit late Weather looks to be just about perfect for the whole weekend.
Does anyone know if the Ferrari Challenge race will be televised or more likely streamed video online somewhere? edit: looks like it will be televised on Speed, unfortunately I don't have access to that channel right now.
qualifying was today, Ganassi is 1-2 (with another BMW in 3rd) in DP; Porsche went 1-4 in GT and 1-2 in GX qualifying. there was a massive gap in GX qualifying (almost 4 seconds between 1st and 2nd! ); and the Mazdas seem a bit lost. I hope they can make a lot fewer pit stops to stay in contention... full results here: http://www.grand-am.com/scheduleResults/results.aspx?eid=3463&sid=1
^Not bad for a bunch of Porsches^, even if SBrake thinks 996 owners don't know how to park. I'm digging Herjavek's new livery on his Challenge car, it goes along nicely with the Shark Tank show. Image Unavailable, Please Login
So I'm walking along the infield today and what do I see....... A McLaren F1 Took a few pics of it but still not able to post.
Thanks guys I have already charged it to my CC which takes a bit longer than PayPal and Rob is looking into it. Next time I'll be sure to renew when I get the notice instead of letting it expire. To be more specific, it was a McLaren F1 GTR that was part of a display and not some private owner cruising around. It raced in the 1996 LeMans finishing 8th overall with Nelson Piquet, Danny Sullivan and Johnny Cecotto driving. I have never seen an F1 in person and have been searching for the past five or six years but rarely does an opportunity happen here in Florida. To be able to see the car's size and shape in front of me really put everything in perspective and makes it my favorite car. The ultimate for me would be to see and photograph an F1 being driven and this sighting shows me the search is worthwhile. I asked the guy if they were going to drive it Saturday morning on the track as part of Heritage Exhibition and he said no but that was only because he hadn't been asked. He said the car was ready to go if they wanted him.
I spy an FChatter. https://twitter.com/ESMRacing/status/294559643999555584 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very exciting scene. Saw a lot of people and had some great meetings. Really looking forward to the Race and remain hopeful we'll be there with our prototype in 2014.
