the viper and new vette are both amazing, the italian automakers need to watch out! i think the american companies need to get back to the american-exotic look, like the gen1 & 2 viper. the new vipers are too soft on the curves, which is wrong, they should be agressive and a do not miss.
True. Not many companies have such a car guy in charge, either. Here's Ralph(in a SuperBee T-shirt!) discussing the line with Viper owners at a recent track event. SRT brought a couple new Vipers as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I think the car looks great. Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I don't feel the car needs the driving lights. The design looks enough like the earlier cars that it's not needed. The car needs some aspects of the design that are forward looking.
I just snapped this picture when I was on the other side of town on Tuesday. Although I wasn't able to get the front, it does look a LOT better with a racing stripe. Not a fan of the mis-matched wheels though lol Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm slowly becoming a Viper fan - even the older generations are growing on me. Gilles is a cool dude, and his passion is evident - well done.
I've seen a rendering of the convertible version and it is absolutely beautiful! Hopefully they release it soon because I cannot wait to see it in person.

^^^^ simply awesome. The new Viper TA sets the Laguna lap record (production car). The new Viper is the real deal, indeed. And i absolutely love the visual presentation ... inside and out And the motor's now got fully forged guts ... crank, rods and pistons. I love it.
It would be interesting to put both cars on the same tires and see the results. Better yet put both on slicks as that is what most people will run at the track. I would also like to know how these cars would run over a 15 lap heat. If the brakes and other bits can't hold up to serious lapping the times above are pointless. No one is going to those limits on the street, and for a DE one lap is irrelevant.
what a great interview/video. thanks for link why cant us topgear be like that? m/t should put out a tv show
It's not a bummer at all ... it's healthy competition Right now, Viper's on top. I'm sure Chevy will respond, in kind (but they sure didn't respond with a C7 that's better looking than the Gen V Viper, in my eyes ... the new Viper is a much better looking vehicle, inside and out).
Viper ACR holds the record at 7:12.13. Old news from 2011 and all the Vette guys moan that the car was not "street legal" because the splitter from the trunk was attached to the front of the car and the car was apparetly given a full setup and probably lowered in the process. Boo hoo. Which is why this drive is so impressive, as a the Viper time was set by a pro driver, so this guy is very, very good. You can see it in the precision and efficiency of his hands. If you care about 'Ring times, the exotics are actually a bit pathetic compared to the ACR and ZR1 Here is the record run from 2011: Dodge Viper ACR Recaptures Lap Record at Nurburgring - YouTube
